Found in Grandma's Attic

Hello I'm a 38 year old male St Louis Missouri just found this katana at Grandma's house was wondering if anybody knew anything about it it is promising that it's a wood sheath covered in Copper with a wooden handle pen with wood pegs through the Tang but there is a number 9 stamped in the Tang. And I was wondering if anybody knew what this says
