Hi all, what do you think about this Kokura stamp....fake? I've never seen one that looks like it was stamped with 3 individual circles....leading to the light mark within the center circle.

Hello,

I can understand the caution but to be honest it looks ok to me...The sword as a whole looks good with nicely fitting parts..I have a similar 95 with the steel a fuchi that stands out in much the same way ( no photo’s at the moment )...

Regards,

Paul...

I'm with Paul. That Tokyo inspector stamp beside it and the contractor stamp are harder to fake and they look right. Steve (Shamsy) says he's seen many variations on this stamp, so as long as the rest of the gunto look right, which it does (so, ok, the Tokyo stamp on the blade by the serial number looks weird) I think you've got a good one there.

It's fine. As Bruce said, there are dozens of variants to the cannonball, larger, smaller, bigger rings, smaller rings...

If I remember tonight I can post some examples if people are interested.

I would love to see some of the extremes. It's the one that I often call "fake" on, and then it turns out to be legit, so I could use some education on this one.

Steve thank you for the picture, as they say it is worth a 1000 words. Sometimes it is hard to describe what you are looking at to someone that can’t see it themselves
