Krystian Posted October 3, 2018 Report Posted October 3, 2018 Hello, I just got this tsuba and can't figure it out. It looks a lot like a cast but inlay is genuine. Someone had to put a lot of effort to make it. Please let me know what you think. Best Regards, Krystian Quote
Grey Doffin Posted October 3, 2018 Report Posted October 3, 2018 Hi Krystian, I don't think this is a cast tsuba. Search the board and elsewhere online for Jakushi. Grey 1 Quote
lotus Posted October 3, 2018 Report Posted October 3, 2018 Yeah, I could not detect evidence of casting either. Like Grey mentioned, it looks like a Jakushi. 1 Quote
Stephen Posted October 3, 2018 Report Posted October 3, 2018 it is Jakushi, they often give the impression of cast. 2 Quote
Krystian Posted October 3, 2018 Author Report Posted October 3, 2018 I also thought abut Jakushi at first but after close examination I am more and more skeptical. Here are some examples from my archives of tsuba that I am certain are real Jakushi. The things that are different: 1. mei. 2. patina and steel color 3. Face and scales of the dragon are a bit "soft". Could not see any tool marks on them. But I am not certain. That is why I wrote the post in the first place. If you think that this looks like a genuine Jakushi, that is a good news for me:) Quote
Stephen Posted October 3, 2018 Report Posted October 3, 2018 i can never read any of their mei, but sure looks like one to me ...ask here im sure he'll confirm. https://www.facebook.com/Jakushi-Tsuba-944871365561712/ Quote
