Cast Tsuba?

Hello,

I saw this tsuba sold a echizen kinai school.
as the design is very pleasing to me and size is ok I am interested in, but is it cast?
I don't think so, cuttings and carving look neat to me, but it's also possible to work on a cast item and clean it before adding nunome.

I personally think that it is not cast. But it is hard to argue with your final comment if not held in hand. If in doubt walk away I say. There is plenty more tsuba in the sea.

This doesn't look cast to me but it does look to be late, if not modern.

Thanks for your informations.
I was not thinking about cast material,but as it's not cheap, i would prefer to get other members opinions about it.

What is information showing less or more recent work?

Upper right corner image shows a rough ridge on the center of tsuba's outer rim, which makes me suspect casting. Overall quality is not impressive.

First look is fine but when you look deeper to it it doesn't look like a forged one. I think Franco is right.

for my eyes, there is absolutely nothing giving it away as cast. As Grey says, it might be later, but is a fine one.
From a technical point of view, it would be much more difficult to cast a TSUBA with such a design than making it by hand.

Just my opinion, without seeing it in hand.

It is hard to tell from here whether it is cast or not, but my vote is for modern work, particularly with the coloring.
