PNSSHOGUN Posted November 3, 2017 Report Posted November 3, 2017 Few possible gendaito among the Shin Gunto, all in pretty average shape. Kyu Gunto looks good. Quote
PNSSHOGUN Posted November 3, 2017 Report Posted November 3, 2017 This one: https://centurionauctions.hibid.com/lot/35858080/wwii-Japanese-signed-kyu-gunto/?q=Japanese&apage=2&ipp=100&ref=lot-list Good blade if not gimei. Quote
lonely panet Posted November 3, 2017 Report Posted November 3, 2017 that never showed up when i was looking , i know next to nothing on hizen mei, but it looks sloppy compared to what iv seen. i would aleast say its had a suriage. but the mounts are the star. nice big double handed tsuka on a navy kyu gunto arnt common at all Quote

lonely panet Posted November 3, 2017 Report Posted November 3, 2017 nice, blade looks health for a nagamaki noshi the tsuka looks very short for a regular gunto DARE i call it a CREW GUNTO............... 1 Quote
Ray Singer Posted December 1, 2017 Report Posted December 1, 2017 I was planning to attend in person but had to cancel at the last moment. The auction just closed. I likewise thought the naginatanaoshi was interesting, as was the Hizen Masatsugu. The Nobufusa sold at an attractive price. 1 Quote
TheGermanBastard Posted December 1, 2017 Report Posted December 1, 2017 This one looked interesting to me ... https://centurionauctions.hibid.com/lot/35858032/Japanese-tanto/?apage=2&ipp=100&ref=catalog&q=25670 BUT likely the temper was bad and possibly tiered. I suspect this as I can not recall ever having seen a good quality blade in these junk tourist mounts. Probably once was good but now dead. Quality mounts on this one: https://centurionauctions.hibid.com/lot/35858056/Japanese-wakizashi/?apage=2&ipp=100&ref=catalog&q=25670 Overall a decent package. The Hzen blade went for too much considering it is rather much Machi Okuri. I agree this one was interesting, too: https://centurionauctions.hibid.com/lot/35858062/wwii-Japanese-wakizashi/?q=Japanese&apage=2&ipp=100&ref=lot-list The late Bizen Tachi with huge Sori was junk but an interesting investment piece at the given estimate but then went for way too much and beyond retail Quote
TheGermanBastard Posted December 30, 2017 Report Posted December 30, 2017 A 2nd chance case anybody is interested eventhough price has went up considerably. https://www.ebay.com/itm/WW-II-Japanese-Samurai-PILOT-TANK-CREW-SWORD-Antique-Old-Family-NAGINATA-NAOSHI/362199913435?hash=item5454cc13db:g:2IYAAOSwBRFaR9c3 Quote

The fittings? Gunto fittings? Quote
TheGermanBastard Posted December 31, 2017 Report Posted December 31, 2017 Well, personally I am not into those fittings but the blade looks like it could be a solid pre Muromachi piece. Though I wouldn't be in at that price. Quote
Stephen Posted December 31, 2017 Author Report Posted December 31, 2017 The elusive tanker gunto!! Quote
