Stephen Posted October 3, 2017 Report Posted October 3, 2017 I get a very Zen feeling from this. Minimalist to say the least. Where would you rate the value? Make out the mei? Quote
Stephen Posted October 3, 2017 Author Report Posted October 3, 2017 Yes my impression as well, dont hold back A $30-$50 B $50-$100 C $100-$200 D None of above ...less E None of above ....more. Quote
christianmalterre Posted October 3, 2017 Report Posted October 3, 2017 there is a signature on the right side of the SD- did you proof it ? eitherway- not the quality i would collect me.... there are many many Tsuba out there... Christian Quote
Stephen Posted October 3, 2017 Author Report Posted October 3, 2017 Thank you both for your honesty. Quote
ROKUJURO Posted October 3, 2017 Report Posted October 3, 2017 Stephen,It is a very nice design and the execution is really good, I think. The value depends a lot on the former owners or if it was shown in publications. If there was a renowned collector or author who called this a masterpiece it would go up the price ladder! 1 Quote
Stephen Posted October 3, 2017 Author Report Posted October 3, 2017 The case with a lot of items.... Quote
Higo-san Posted October 5, 2017 Report Posted October 5, 2017 The full Mei does most likely read "Yamashiro Kuni Fushimi" (山城国伏見) on the right side and "Kaneie" (金家) on the left. I agree with the Saga Kaneie attribution and with Brian's low C (sorry, Stephen...). Best, Chris Quote
Stephen Posted October 5, 2017 Author Report Posted October 5, 2017 I dont mind the low rating, it means im not over paying and not getting a bargain all in one!! lol Ill still go for the ones that strike a cord with me. As said a very zen feeling to me. Hey who here doesn't like "the little man in the boat"...well maybe a few of that other persuasion. to each his own, i always say! edit Thank you Chris! Quote
Brian Posted October 5, 2017 Report Posted October 5, 2017 One of my favorite personal tsuba is a Saga Kaneie that I got in Japan. No matter how much I try convince myself they are fairly mass produced and average quality, I just love the iron. Has a 3D effect that makes the surface shimmer and dance, and makes me feel like I can see below the surface of the steel. Can see right into it. Hard to explain, but I've mentioned it before.Love that tsuba. So I can fully appreciate when you say you love the feeling you get from this one. 1 Quote
