Hi

I am reducing my tsuba collection and this will be my first attempt at selling at a fair

I will be at the Birmingham Arms and Armour Sale at the Birmingham motorcycle museum on the 19th February

Would anyone attending who is a NMB member please introduce themselves as it would be nice to put faces to names

A snapshot of what I will be taking and I may add a couple of other small fittings

Hi Peter

Yes I have my own table

It is number 180 so I assume this will be in the last room

Grev, just so that you are aware we operate a members sales table for the Northern Token at each show, members can sell items on the table.

Easy rules, you sell anything you donate a single payment of £10.00, if you don't sell anything its free.

We are in the second room, wall table 82.

I did this Brian because I witnessed collectors being at the mercy of dealers when they wanted to trade in. Some of whom were really low balling them.
I pay for the table on a yearly basis as a dealer and extend the table to the token members. This really works both ways, I have a very limited amount of stock, so the added value for me is that the table is always packed out, and there are guys on hand who really know their game.

I would recommend that maybe this concept is replicated. Also to place items on the table you must be a member of the Northern Token, over the past year the membership has increased due to this facility. We also buy in at a fair price from visitors.

Everyone is happy.

Hi

Just getting my stuff together

My wife is helping me at the Fair so I'll have chance to look around

Dave - I always have a look at your stand and will see you on Sunday

Paul - I look forward to seeing you

Peter - I'm not sure if you will be there but again it will be nice to see you

I thought there would be more NMB members there but I suppose it depends where you live

Peter is going to be there.

How about we all meet upstairs around 12:00 noon?

My first fair

I really enjoyed the day as it's nice to put faces to names, the only problem is my memory virtually non-existent which is really annoying

What not to love about the Northern To-Ken guys - a great crowd

Michael, a young collector picking up his first sword (a wakizashi in polish and shira saya) so a great starter

Also Fuchi/Kashira (black shakudo) that is much better than anything I have

Good chats with Kyle and Clive among other

The nitty gritty

Sold five tsuba but bought another three

Sold two kozuka and bought another one

Sold a matching tsuka and saya. My wife handled the sale as I was on walkabout

The buyer had a bare blade that fitted both items - how lucky was that

If I had been there I'd have3 charged him more as soon as I saw they fitted LOL

Grev,  Agreed a great day and such a pleasure to meet like-minded people. Sadly I didn't buy anything but that is not a problem.  What is important are personal relationships.
