obiwanknabbe Posted March 19, 2016 Report Posted March 19, 2016 What a great service... I can buy a tsuba on ebay and the seller will be nice enough to go and buy it from AOI in Japan and then sell it to me for $200 more than it cost. What a deal!!! http://www.ebay.com/itm/Japanese-genuine-TSUBA-signed-UMETADA-sword-katana-samurai-antique-Japan-Edo-173-/301867594468?hash=item4648b5f2e4:g:rg0AAOSwezVWt857 http://www.aoijapan.com/tsubaume-tada-autumn-insects Ugh... the scamming never ends..... Ryan Posted March 20, 2016 Report Posted March 20, 2016 So this is the second time in a week we've seen dodgy dealings with this guy, and no one has left him negative feedback to warn future buyers? Quote
obiwanknabbe Posted March 20, 2016 Author Report Posted March 20, 2016 I checked and there were quite a few other items this guy is selling off of AOI's website.. I will send them a letter tomorrow and let them know.. Actions like these ruin the hobby for all of us. Kurt k Quote
YOJIMBO Posted March 20, 2016 Report Posted March 20, 2016 Even the Japanese are crooks. Especially Yahoo auction - eBay. Unfortunately Quote
Stephen Posted March 20, 2016 Report Posted March 20, 2016 Maybe its them, i alerted them a month ago and never heard back. Let us know what they say. Quote
Brian Posted March 20, 2016 Report Posted March 20, 2016 I'm guessing they have no issue with it, since there is no downside for them. They don't use eBay, so if something sells, they get a sale. They are probably ok with it. Quote
jlawson Posted March 20, 2016 Report Posted March 20, 2016 In order to leave negative feedback you have to complete a transaction. This is no different than others selling items for a higher price than a Yahoo Auction that has a buy it now price, then buying it themselves and sending it to you. I had one of these a while back and after the auction conclusion the seller said that they had lost the item in their warehouse and cancelled the auction and refunded my money (because it was no longer available on Yahoo auctions). This way I cannot leave negative feedback and the cycle continues. There are at least 3 sellers doing this now and if you search specifically for tsuba on Ebay you will see the same exact photos of the same items listed by a couple of different sellers that are taken directly from Japanese dealer sites and marked up. I contacted Ebay about this a while back and long story short is they did nothing to stop it. Unfortunately this will continue. Quote
obiwanknabbe Posted March 23, 2016 Author Report Posted March 23, 2016 I actually got a reply from AOI, thanking me for alerting them. They said they would look into it. Nothing may come of it but it wont be for lack of trying. Kurt 3 Quote
