Ed Hicks Posted March 15, 2016 Report Posted March 15, 2016 Antique Sword cane blade with lacquer mei and bizarre stamp on tang that I've never seen...photos are from an iPad and I'll post better ones soon. The tachi mei looks like Kaneyoshi with three kanji above....the untouched stamp (lacquer?) on the other side looks like a flower or a mon, any ideas? Thanks for looking. Ed Quote
Fuuten Posted March 15, 2016 Report Posted March 15, 2016 Hi Ed, I don't think I've ever seen such a double cross (sort of), sign before. The red calligraphy is lacquer. On a side note the red rust is quite bad, you should see if you could stop it. Quote
Ed Hicks Posted March 15, 2016 Author Report Posted March 15, 2016 I'll have to leave it for now, but the tang will clean up somewhat. The engraving/stamp is really intriguing. Hopefully, one of the experts here has seen something similar. Shots of the entire cane with a substantial folding spring out guard. The blade is a bit tired as are most sword cane blades, but it's better than most I've seen. 2 Quote
Stephen Posted March 15, 2016 Report Posted March 15, 2016 Seen lots of sword canes first for the flip down guard...very cool! 2 Quote
Ken-Hawaii Posted March 16, 2016 Report Posted March 16, 2016 Yeah, that's a much better setup than I've seen other shikomizue, Ed. Nice find. Ken Quote
