Quick question on Kantei Volumes

My holiday starts towards the end of the coming week and I have to plan how to

rank upcoming projects. I have planned to add another Kantei Supplement with

more blades than in the first supplemt (koto, shinto and shinshinto). My aim is to

provide a decent reference with this series but I want to ask you first if this is

wanted at all.

 

So I would be greatful for a short reply if this series should be continued or not.

Sounds like an excellent idea! I have found myself leafing through the Koto and Shinto&Shinshinto volumes quite often, sometimes wishing there were more of these great examples.

 

If I may ask for the impossible, some kind of illustrated Hada type annex would be great...

I thought I ask because the first supplement sold in homeopathic numbers what made

me think that the first two volumes are maybe enough. I have about 200 new blades

around right now which have to be sorted, translated and wrote up. Will be something

for late summer/early fall I guess. Thank you for your cooperation so far.

Would there be any possibility of you translating any of the remaining volumes of the Nihon-to Koza? I'm guessing the copyright has long lapsed on these.

 

Specifically the one on yari, nagamaki and naginata ?

@Peter: In the course of recent discusions on what should be translated next, I was informed that Harry Watson wants to finish the remaining volumes himself. So if Harry decides not to tackle them, you know where you can find me. :D

There is also the tenth Q&A volume which might be of some interest...

Who could say 'no more'? I am sure your German speaking readers feel the same. Your books whether privately funded or public offerings are invaluable to our study. It is a sad fact the your readership in this subject is so limited and the rewards are not equal to the work required and we are lucky that your own interest is the driving force behind your work. I can´t stop anyway because I just love that subject too much.

But from time to time I have to sort out priorities and scheduled deadlines

around other projects as bills usually don´t care about the latter.

I meant to add that I see Harry several times a year, in fact he was here for a visit in February. Next time I speak with him I will ask him if he plans to finish the Nihonto Koza. I know at one time he was planning to do the second volume of kodogu, but I am unsure if he still plans to do so.

 

Dr. Ford will be in today for the weekend, and I will inquire as to whether or not he has spoken with Harry about it.

Japanese copyright / publishing rights extends 50 years after the author's death. If any of the authors of the Nihonto Koza lived until 1964, any unauthorized publishing of their works (including translated versions in other languages) would be illegal.
