  1. Water-quenched mill steel gendaito?
  2. Hi Arnaud, Have a look at this page. The stamp is the trademark of the South Manchuria Railway. http://www.h4.dion.ne.jp/~t-ohmura/gunto_114.htm Nice Mantetsu!
  3. No you did not miss it Eric, but it looks like a gunto to me, machine made etc...so should be banned also?
  4. Bruno

  5. Here is one close up:
  6. This one also: http://cgi.ebay.com/SAMURAI-Katana-swor ... 5193a28333
  7. Thank you very much Dr STEIN.
  8. Hello, How to differenciate an Emura blade made by himself or made by one of his students? Are mei carved "differently", I mean nakirishi mei or is it possible to make a significant difference just by looking at the blade itself? Regards
  9. A very newbie question but how a blade stored in shirasaya can rust?
  10. Is it a gunto wakizashi?
  11. The kanji look freshly cut compared to the old nakago patina. Maybe it is just the light of the photos.
  12. Too late I did!! I know how to buy Viagra from Canada now!
  13. Not that late, I would say middle war production. Late war were those with wooden handle. I am pretty sure you'll see your marks if seller send you close up. About exception I do not know, but with gunto everything is possible! :D
  14. The 3 marks used to be on the fuchi, in this case they are not pictured. I have no doubt they are present and the sword guenine.
  15. I cannot see the link. Am I the only one?
  16. All of them during this short period as i remember, old swords and gunto.
  17. I have read they were banned from 1945 to 1953 in Japan.
  18. Please sign your posts with your real name as per as the rule.
  19. Well, maybe I was wrong. The acid etched aspect of the blade, the poor shaped kissaki and the style of the mei made me think of a chinese copy.
  20. It is a chinese copy.
  21. Seki and Showa stamped swords can be left for the martial artists, amateur polishers and WWII memorabilia collectors as they are not nihon-to ...anyone looking to learn about nihon-to will be wasting their time with them.... Isn't t a bit contradictory? I mean, if non-traditional and traditional blades were such similar that they recquired a stamp(seki/showa) to differenciate them, why ones are out of interest and not the others for antone looking to learn about nihonto?
  22. Grrrrr once again I can not have access to it!!!
  23. The koshirae is pretty but I wonder if the blade is not a bit tired, it seems hamachi/munemachi are used. Or maybe it is just the photos...?
  24. I agree with George, original also.
  25. Not sure this can answer your question, but at least I hope it is a clue: http://www.dfoggknives.com/Metallurgica ... REPORT.htm
