  1. Chris already translated what it says.
  2. Hi Peter, Do you have clear photos of the blade you can share?
  3. More more please!
  4. Just a guenine one. See below link http://www.h4.dion.ne.jp/~t-ohmura/gunto_070.htm
  5. Does someone took a lot of pictures that one can see?
  6. Your NCO looks guenine, so to answer your question I would say yes.
  7. Why a smith has to be dead to have one of his blade papered? It is a strange condition. I thought they were judging the quality of the blade only.
  8. Thanks a lot Morita san. :D Always nice to know painter's name.
  9. Here is a close up of the mei.
  10. Hi all, I bought this kakemono few years ago for decorative purpose. Certainly not a great piece of art but fine enough to me. Till now, I did not pay attention to the mei, the cusive kanji make me enable to translate them. I am asking for help to know what is the painter's name. Thank in advance.
  11. I would say last last ditch and poor quality but maybe guenine.
  12. Very but very good idea Chris!! I hope it will be a complete success with many different quality blades and different level of polishers.
  13. Actually one of them is not a chinese crap, RJT smith so true gendaito.
  14. Hi Nick, He is recorded in the Seki Kaji Tosho list at the bottom of the page. Maybe also upper in the same page but you have to look by yourself. http://www.jp-sword.com/files/seki/gendaito.html As Grey said, very few chances to look some infos about him. Regards
  15. Put some machine gun oil on the screws and wait few hours.... Is it that hard to unscrews these? I thought it was easy.
  16. 5 is fake for sure and 9 is guenine (star stamp) but scabbard is not original, nor tsuba. Blade looks badly treated.
  17. It has a stamp but...a star stamp.
  18. I would dare to say just pull the screws with the appropriate tool and let's see what happen. I do not think you will damage anything. Am I wrong?
  19. Not a big deal if you damage the screws, they are just...screws. Then you can replace them (if destroyed) by wooden mekugi. Looks better to me and more "traditionnal".
  20. I beleive the last one you posted (9) (the one I said the handle is guenine) is a real gunto at least.
  21. It is only my guess but your older gentleman probably bought all these swords the past years (months?) on Ebay, thinking they were real, then realized they were all chinese fakes. He told you a nice story to sell you the swords as he knows no connoisseurs would be interested in them. My 2 cents point of view. Regards
  22. The one on photos 4 and 5 has a guenine Type 3 handle so maybe you should post more photos of this one, the rest is all rubish.
  23. Last one you posted is mega fake! Sorry
  24. On last one, handle is guenine not sure for the rest but it is a start! :D
  25. Sorry to be rude but it is good for the trash. :?
