  1. Buyee is weird at times. Been ordering regularly almost for about 2 years. Sometimes some items aren't allowed and yet the same type item from another Buyee vendor is allowed. I've had this issue with JNats and Tamahagane.
  2. Just looked at that AoiJapan website and I like this one. If only I had the spare money to get it. That Hamon is nice. https://www.aoijapan.com/katanaminamoto-moriyoshi-mukansa-swordsmith-nbthk-tokubetsu-hozon-token/
  3. This is why long swords weren't allowed to be worn indoors. Show us the damaged furniture.
  4. You could change the time zone on Your computer when visiting a certain forums though.
  5. Could be another African Samurai like Yasuke. Yasuke
  6. I found this one a few months ago. Part 1 of French-language edition of Otake's text on Katori Shinto Ryu, The Deity and the Sword. Le Sabre et le Divin 1 by Otake, Risuke
  7. Yes, taking pics of blade steel is hard. Most of My pics are ruined by dreaded light reflection causing a Sun effect. As for the Sword above the Hamon is very visible.
  8. Most blades probably saw use at one time or another.
  9. I wish tamahagane would be easier to obtain and less expensive.
  10. I will say Canadian Customs is weird at times. I've purchased the same type of items fom Japan (mostly JNats) almost monthly for almost 2 years from the same vendor. Sometimes, I've had to pay no Import Fee despite most times I did despite of the value of the items.
  11. I was told long ago to not trust the Devil.
  12. Hello, Just wondering how many learned to be be fluent in Japanese. Like how did You go about doing it and how long did it take? Cheers
  13. I got Art of the Japanese Sword in both hardcover and pdf version. I only have the pdf version of The Craft of the Japanese Sword and some information in either book isn't present in the other so I'll get the hardcover version of The Craft of the Japanese Sword someday cause pdf files are not convenients at times.
  14. Thus far, I only have a custom made Bokken, an Iaito and a Paul Chen/Hanwei Katana. So just need a proper Japanese blade or two to round out My collection.
  15. Just found this source in Florida. https://nihonzashi.ecwid.com/Susudake-Bamboo-for-Mekugi-p115341470 Just found this source in Japan. https://www.yamatobudogu.com/products/smoked-bamboo-for-mekugi
  16. Mekugi it is. Thread title edited too.
  17. Hello, Just wondering where You people get Your Mekugi pins for the tsuka? Took apart my Hanwei Katana tonight for the 1st time and and unfortunately one of the Mekugi was impossible to take out. So I drilled it out instead of taking a chance at damaging something else. Thanks,
  18. Saving for something is a good thing. Too many people live paycheck to paycheck.
  19. I really like this person's YouTube channel for polishing. Onishi sharpener
  20. Exactly. I wish there would be Swordsmiths, Polishers, Saya makers, etc. around to chit chat with. It seems finding a honest Politician would be an easier search.
  21. Sashikomi looks nicer I think if the blade can be done that way.
  22. Taking pics of shiny steel is annoying. My eyes and camera are not in synch. I need to try again.
