Reminds me of infamous dancing tanuki

And with newly released torokusho? If you buying sword in Japan you have to exchange torokusho.
-
What is most important here? "Under current Japanese law, any sword that does not meet the requirements of being classified as an art object made using traditional methods and materials is not able to attain a sword license (torokusho)" https://thejapanesesword.com/shinsa.php Its good to have sword with it. Its first requiement when buying in Japan. I was happily surprised buying lately sword when I discovered original torokusho with it. Dunno how it got out of Japan.
-
Maybe main difference is in who was buying? Soldier is obligated with specific uniform and weapon requirements. Civil forces in late war circumstances forced soften aproach towards it.
-
Is gunzoku similar to Imperial Japanese civil defense force in any way? As gunzoku was militarised IJA personel maybe last effort units of cdf had some minimum of armament? And they were using any sword available with those tsuba/leftover gunto?
-
I thought so Its my first piece. @Scogg item photo is like from same mold. Im not looking for a $ value. Nice to know it have some historic meaning.
-
I got this tsuba 15 years ago. Some sellers claims that similar tsuba are from NCO gunto. Anyone here encountered this pattern?

Serial number on this blade is made in funny way

I would say that old papers have name of owner who submitted item for evaluation. Maybe same situation apply with sayagaki made by togishi.

Thank you all for wise opinions.
-
So what about sayagaki? It isnt genuine kanzan or in old days atributions were more optimistic?
-
Could it be nagamaki naoshi? It is really tight now. Moto-kasane only 0.5 cm
-
Their shape isnt that of dome-like. You see gaps now. They are more like sculpture not a plain relief with inlaid.
-
Definitely higo. About menuki yes you spotted right motives. What is special here menuki have empty spaces under. Its not typical "flat" design where you see empty when menuki are upside-down.

Give me some helping hand about schools of those parts of koshirae. And about menuki -what material are those made from? Would say silver but they look like modern creation.
-
From other info I have already: -Attributed to Etushu Mitsuyuki (越州光行: Unsigned) -The end of the Nanbokucho era (Late 14th century) -Cutting Edge Length: 69.3 cm (27.3 inches) Curvature: 1.6 cm (0.63 inches) I wouldn't bother you more but is sayagaki stating more? Is sayagaki statement signed?
