  1. I am actually thinking of getting 2 blades. One from the Kamakura period, so far Hosho is the most likely candidate. The other is this blade: https://katana-yamadaiya.jp/shojinaohide10017
  2. I have a list of about 20+ blades but since the majority of it is koto I decided to throw in some Shinto and shinshinto from mid to top tier smiths. As for price range it's a bit wide as the most expensive on the list is Aoi art's Go at 35 million yen and lowest is around 1 million yen.
  3. Hello again, I was looking through my list of potential swords a compiled as I intend to get a blade or two soon. I saw this yasutsugu blade for sale https://eirakudo.shop/token/tanto/detail/839840 I am looking for opinions and advice as I know that the first generation yasutsugu is a highly rated smith. I would like to know how it compares to his other works Regards, Jed
  4. https://www.aoijapan.com/katana:mumei-attributed-to-ko-naminohira-41st-nbthk-juyo-token/ A nice ko-naminohira tachi (albeit a bit tired) from the kamakura. Starting to understand why jussi like this school. Though why does the nbthk classify it as a katana even though its only a suriage and still has the shape of a tachi Jed.
  5. Just 2 small questions. What's the number of juyo+ miike swords out there and the general desirability of miike swords.
  6. This is the wrong place for this post, it should be in the 'wanted to buy' section
  7. https://katana-boutique.com/products/antique-Japanese-sword-s03476-kunimasa?variant=46436705075338 Nothing exceptional, just a simple mumei tanto for the early edo period with nthk papers. But the attribution is rather big being attributed Horikawa kunimasa, a Smith that's a part of the famous Horikawa school. Im currently saving for a juyo swords so I'm trying to avoid detour hence would like some opinions before deciding.
  8. https://eirakudo.shop/463074 A recent listing by eirakudogood shape, decent jigane and some really good horimono. But there seems to be a spot of something, shigane? Fukure? Not sure. Would like to what it may be
  9. aoi Japan usually ships by ems, the other 2 question i can't answer as i'm from a different country.
  10. Occasionally I seen some of honami nisshu with a daimyo family provence attached to the sword in his sayagaki. I would like to know how accurate are this attributions Example: https://www.aoijapan.com/wakizashi-shirasaya-with-koshirae-nbthk-tokubetsu-hozon-tokenmenuki-and-kozuka-nbthk-hozon-tosogu/ Attributed to the tosa yamanouchi family. 11. https://www.ebay.com/itm/365553295008?itmmeta=01JSKGVFSYMWSCN4BRWH1ZEHXZ&hash=item551cac9ea0:g:NY4AAOSwd4hoBjcw I saw this Japanese sword seller on ebay. The review are little but compared to majority of Japanese sellers on ebay, this one provides information on the swordsmith. The guy does not seem to be one of those resellers. This sword has gotten my attention and would be a good piece from around the onin war period but I has old certification and I am a bit concerned if it is a gimei. Jed.
  12. https://eirakudo.shop/089484 Muromachi period tanto. The pattern are quite odd. Any ideas as to what type of hada this is? Jed
  13. I have been looking Kamakura period swords for a while, since a year or two ago. I want my first piece to be remarkable for me. Kamakura blades are always hit or miss for me. The ones that do hit for me are often gone with a week, month or even less. Now I'm am look at a kunimune sword but theres a 50/50 chance it's not available anymore. If so then I'll continue wait.
  14. https://www.aoijapan.com/tachi-norinari-ko-ichimonji69th-nbthk-juyo-token/ Recently listed ko-ichimonji sword. Looks really healthy and recent juyo papers too. Sadly have to pass since I have already decided on getting a kunimune sword. Though I share it. Jed
  15. Naminohira is a decent school. Lots of blades from that school usually has suguha hamon. They aren't very sought after by collectors though. Still ko-naminohira is a good starting point for Kamakura blades in my opinion.
