Sugata looks kinda similar. Double habaki, tsuba with real sekigane. Maybe tsukamaki, fuchi, kashira are not great but overall would say muromachi [15/16c] or older [koto sword era]. Don't polish it.

You clearly see blade is made of wood. But this tsuba ... Mimi [oval part of tsuba] should be smooth so it won't gather dirt right? Its proper military design I suppose.
Type 98 but this leather cover is in "to good shape" to be genuine.
Mr @Bruce Pennington maybe should evaluate. This tsuba finishing especially and leather cover.
