Nice details, red paint near sarute barrel probably is anti-rust. This low numbers serie shows some big effort.

WTB: Iron Tsuba – Assembled, Re-purposed, Kutsuwa & Snake Motifs
Marcin replied to Kiko's topic in Wanted to Buy
I’m 100% sure we have one snake tsuba offer from Ford Hallam or his student. here You go, pretty: https://www.militaria.co.za/nmb/topic/54795-snake-tsuba/#comment-577754 One linked was sold already -
Nice. I’m getting specific requests for blades. I will send them to You.

Examples of early Meiji period koshirae

If seller is the one who bought blade from Pablo I don’t think he „will go Wesker” if You know what I mean. -
Examples of early Meiji period koshirae
Marcin replied to jdawg221's topic in General Nihonto Related Discussion
@jdawg221 it’s an auction of ex Pablo Kuntz blade. Koshirae looks like and is described by Pablo as crafted in the Meiji era. Go at unique Japan web page and run through old catalogues? His items usually have full paperwork. All with sufficient certificates. Cata link link Cheers -
David, I smply reposted example from linked discussion. Marcin

You bring results. As You work not with nihonto here You could and should describe process. It’s better to learn from You then end with a blade in stomach as one seller in television once did.
-
I didn’t even noticed blade being bend. But yeah I had it 15 minutes only. Try endoscopic camera inside of saya for rust and possible openings. Great tool for change price. Fuchi looked like made of amber.

It's better to paint then to let it rot. Open tsuba with 2 pairs of seppa sounds nice. probably gendaito smith. 金谷 勝正 Kanaya Katsumasa https://japaneseswordindex.com/tosho.htm - Second seat? Chujo saku

How long is blade? Looks more like bayonet. And tsuka proves it. Was it shortened? No saya probably.

@Steve Waszakis an expert with these.

Emergency Late War Officer Gunto
Marcin replied to Bruce Pennington's topic in Military Swords of Japan
If You purchased without onspectong in hand don’t be harsh for yourself. We have entire thread for emergency and last resort blades with written old opinions about these being fake. -
Yeah I know that my answer can be scarce sometimes but I don't want to spam same pictures over and over again. I went for some new research now. So from my old post: crest for 60$ offered on ebay by chinese seller or even worse - reseller. Shop "Bobby" is closed now. Current offers? Pops up right away - navy with mon x2 examples and koshirae with mon looking like made for laido way after ww2 - have crest too link link Sam as usual nailed it with referencing parade kyu gunto having mon, yet I remember hamish @lonely panet or Mr "h" was posting somewhere his examples with mon having nihonto blades. So, We will meet peps defending even Kyu gunto as blades can be swapped. Once again don't make purchase decisions with being over positive. With amount of obvious fixed koshirae coming with certified blades from best dealers it's better to assume worst option. I hope that this is sufficient enough. For something more - my currently favourite ebay offer: Minty type 3 lying at chinese fabric, no response after questions for nakago pics. Sarute at T3 was proven as shouldn't be attached. It can be great Nagamitsu looking at even choji...

If tsuba were still in boxes You get these for box price.

Nice example, I’m seeing more and more mixed koshirae with tsuba being modern repro.

Please help with signature, Shin Gunto blade

As long as I remember I will dig out sufficient examples. Wakase as sword shop owned patents so as it wasn't cheap they stamped probbly whatever they could. -
Unknown significance of chevron design on Sarute
Marcin replied to PNSSHOGUN's topic in Military Swords of Japan
Nicer version or specific version for some achievement? Lets dig out more and compare all at once. Hevron isn't spotted with same type of koshirae, different tsuba, swords. Not from one sword/fittings shop. So different area used same sarute pattern having simpler examples. -

I don’t know what just happened :D I had saved as favourite 2 separate auctions consisting of parts from one wakase set. Same seller, 2 auctions at once with same number. Sadly catawiki cleared all observed at once :/ That’s why I’m sure that tsuba from omura was offered with matching set of seppa and chuso. Please have it in mind. When I find another one I will drop it as I always do. btw. I bought for 4$ cheap endoscopic camera with 1,5 m soft cable with flashlight etc. I will try how it works but I think that using it first before removing wooden part of saya should be another point in sword maintance guide. Guys, tsuba should have marks too. I saw some repro of wakase ishizuki already. Number 4 at ohmura http://ohmura-study.net/906.html also seppa and chuso should be numbered but I don’t know if numbers were always obligatory. I would put my money of saya being legit yet not original with this blade. Great job You lucky b. :] I would like to have gunshows. -
I sold NCO for one of members here with 10 more digits number to this one Yet price was much lower considering no customs and oversea shipping.
