Rawa replied to Brian's topic in General Nihonto Related Discussion
You have done a lot of research. I thought about combined work with all done in previous articles. Like Slough’s Mantetsu pages. -

Increasing Gold Membership numbers?
Rawa replied to Brian's topic in General Nihonto Related Discussion
What about making some articles available only for long term subscribers? Imo NCO 95 guide and some kind of oshigata compilation would do the trick. And I know some kind of guide is in the making. @Bruce Pennington @Scogg have You thought about cooking something? Slough’s second edition was printed 20 years ago -

So catawiki keeps their standards. @Scogg could you move this thread to fake’s tab?

This blade is coming back from time to time. September 1940. As You like those shrine works maybe someone would want to bid on it. Monouchi is imo badly damaged on both sides. https://www.catawiki.com/pl/l/100253437-katana-autentyczny-yasukunito-miecz-oficera-ija-z-ii-wojny-swiatowej-w-nietypowych-osadzeniach-typ-98-japonia

Sharing is caring!

Old thread with blade you guessing being one of Emura’s with similar marks. So it’s not one time trait. (bo-hi and marks come together) @Rei Sinn If you will come by this check my example.

Still need help. Military WW2 sword, Japanese
Rawa replied to Carlyl3's topic in Military Swords of Japan
I advice for removing contact number and give it in pm. -
Overpolish? Blade looks like being sharpen by kitchen blades sharpener. Don’t put more into it.

I would worry more about robots as was posted in some sources https://www.cnet.com/tech/amazons-big-holiday-plan-replacing-600000-human-workers-with-robots-a-new-report-says/ (New York Times have same article) and competition will follow to be able to compete.

@Rhizosphere target current valid certificates. Old ones in Japan where you can easily get fresh verification? check this link: https://new.uniquejapan.com/nbthk-nihon-bijutsu-token-hozon-kyokai-certification-paper-ranking/ and why old is bad Try to tame fomo, it’s a beast in this hobby

Tariffs are lifted? Some boyz from states should help him with blade being in states imo. @Rhizosphere I don’t want to take this burden as our situation is different. You have great opportunities as american. Avoid ebay imo and buy in person/put your request in „wanted to buy” tab here. Invest in nagayama „connoisseur’s book of Japanese swords” at first. -
It’s encyclopedia not an index of swordsmiths and good buy.
-
Steven. I hope you don’t estimate value of possible purchase comparing prices from samurai museum. They went greedy in last years.

Go for return men. Buy gendaito katana not on ebay but on some gunshow. (You see it in hand) Ask guys where and from whom. First blade is better not to making headaches. I’m giving here 3 recent examples from ebay -sold probably for one person at once, from same seller. You buy a sword not a price tag. https://ebay.us/m/Es8XnV Kanenobu https://ebay.us/m/Q6JMat Mantetsu /non-traditional/ https://ebay.us/m/4uZKYd Nagamitsu -

Maybe tell how much you have it. If it isn’t originally made to fit blade just forcibly matches sori. -

Check shintetsu - kizu, imo book example. https://www.japaneseswordindex.com/kizu.htm But still tsukamaki looks nice. Kinda put from parts koshirae. But these parts aren’t worthless. Even saya is fully covered in ray skin with nice gilding left on elements. Check if there is hole for chuso in koiguchi - it will answer some questions. -

Even with this angle you can see dark patches and many pits. Like when polishing granite you can „tear out” softer grain.
