    Sword ID help

Hello, I guess it is a man-made sword. The best things to don't damage the blade is to let it as it is. Don't sandpaper ou steel wool it. You just could used uchiko powder to clean the blade before oil it. Sébastien

    Sword ID help

Hello, Difficult to see the hada, the blade is rusty ... :? For my it is chu kissaki. And looking at habaki,I thinks this blade is iori mune. The file mark on the nakago are kiri yasurime. It is usual when the blade is suriage (cut off). Hamon looks regular gunome. Mino influence ? My first impression was koto Muromachi, but I am far to be a specialist. I am curious to know the opinion of the other member of this board. :D Sébastien
  3. Hello, May I am wrong, but if we speaking about a koto bizen blade, what about utsuri ? I use the zoom of my picture software, but can't saw it on theses pictures. Saiba or sue-bizen could explain this... or my (bad) eyes ? Could you enlight me on this point ? thanks Sébastien
  4. Hello, The few we can see show a gunome hamon with o kissaki... difficult without other photos. Sorry Sébastien
  5. Hello, The only thing I could said, it that sword was O suriage. Waiting for new photos of your friend for more informations sebastien
  6. Hi, From my point of view, patina of the nakago looks strange for a blade dated 1936. Seems too dark and homogeneous... Photo is coming with the sword because it came from the same family. Maybe there is a link between its ?!? But this wasn't explained. Sebastien
  7. Hello, I know many collectors or dealers who buy throught internet and received their blade here in France. So there is no restrictions. You could write "Antique sword (old over 100 years )" except if it is gendai ... Yes unfortuntly stolen parcels problem can happen. But it is not so extended and I don't know if it is based on value. So the best way it to take the tracking option. It is more expensive, but it the price for security. :D Sebastien
  8. Hello, I saw it yesterday and make myself the same reflexion ! For me it is also a modern blade. I think it is 1rst part of 20th century. Looking at the nakago and yasuri-me often used in a work of 20th century... for me you are right :D Sebastien

    Tsuba Kantei

Hello, This tsuba looks fresh. Carving come to nakago ana without seppa dai area. So I thinks it is not a too old item. Maybe 19th century ? No idea about the school Sebastien
  10. Hi, Just looks carefully the boshi. It looks like very near to the ha at the top of the kissaki ... not good for next polish Otherwise looks good :D Seb
  11. I know it Jean :D but pcfarrar seems think so. May I am wrong ? Difficult to say without handling the sword. Sébastien
  12. Hello, As strange as it could be appeard, I think it is ubu ! If it was really a choji on the machi, so there wasn't too space for original shape before machi okuri : there is only one mekugi ana which would be under habaki before machi okuri. Moreover, yasurime are constant from nakago jiri to the base of habaki. You can see on the photo of the other face a dark line (oxydation, dirty ?) crossing machi from ha machi to mune machi. If you have the same on the other side, it could be appeared as a choji on a bad photo. Patern of the hamon neer habaki on the ura side looks like yakidashi. Nevertheless I don't think it is yakidashi. Please note it is not statement, just speculation sebastien
  13. Hello Thanks for this unusual tsuba. Does it could be an insect partern ? butterfly, fly or bee ? I haven't the answere, but another question : I saw this kinds of slot on some fuchi's nakago ana. Is it for the same purpose ? One time I read it is for polearm koshirae ... but I have doubts about this explanation Sébastien
  14. Hello, "Bi" of Bishu" Probably an Osafune Blade ? Sébastien
  15. Hello, I would said muneyaki instead of hitatsura. Looks like shinto blade. I don't know this smith, so can't confirme you if the mei is reliable. There is a kizu on monouchi and muneware Regarding hamon... looks like gunome choji, but it is difficult to saw it clearly due to the light of the photo. Alight bulb in a dark room would have been better. Sebastien
  16. Hello Soshin, Thanks for your reply. Yes patina is very damaged. I buy it in that condition 2 years ago. I didn't try to create a new patina, I don't want to damage more this one. It was told to me this tsuba has characteristics of several schools and no truly distinct feature to assign to a particular school. But may be the marks shaped triangle on seppa dai would speak to specialists ? I am interested in the sword (blade) and I have very little knowledge about the tsuba Sébastien
  17. Hello, Here is a wakazashi sukashi tsuba. It is in iron and showing a deer and a doe pattern. It lost it panita. Mimi is round. Diameter : 6,8 cm It was told to me it could be bushu. Does someone have you an idea about the school ? Sorry for the poor quality of the photos
  18. Hi, I noticed something strange on the yasuri me upper the mekugi ana. It change from sujikai to kiri ?!? The example from Fujishiro has a nakago jiri different from the photo

Hello, Could you please show us a close up of the nakago ? Bonji looks like "Miroku Bosatsu". I would say koshirae is bakumatsu. Sébastien

    Real or not!

Hello, I also have a strange feeling with you tsuba. Shape of nakago ana and hitsu ana are badly done, the ground looks rough. Cast tsuba ? regards Sebastien
  21. Hi, Today, in iaido, left hander or right hander both used right hand ton hold the tsuka. Moreover, if a left hander carry his sword on the right side, does that mean that kirukata too is on the opposite side on the saya ... ? Sebastien
  22. Hello, Does these swords had any stamps (showa, seki) ? Thanks Sébastien
  23. Hi, Or maybe shinto : fukura is not round, shallow sori and masame in shinogi-ji ? So to summarize : a short O suriage blade, shinto or sue koto, with a doubt on kizu (see mdiddy's photo => maybe an hagire ?) and hard hada ... :? Sebastien
  24. Hi, Mine is this wakizashi, in poor polish condition, but well balanced :D Maybe ishido's school ? Seb
