Tokugawa Art - Sanmei Trading Co.
dimitri replied to Oldman's topic in Auctions and Online Sales or Sellers
I discovered the site thanks to you on the forum. It's always a pleasure to see what's in stock; the service is always charming and very fast. The prices are reasonable. I hope to return to Japan and stop in Nagoya to visit the store; your anecdotes have certainly piqued my interest. Thank you again, gentlemen. -
"Tsuba: The R. E. Haynes Study Collection" Auction
dimitri replied to Promo's topic in Auctions and Online Sales or Sellers
@Rawa, Like you said, everything will change. 😢😢 -

I hope I'm not bothering anyone by reviving this thread about these rather unusual tsuba. Here's mine with the wasp. The second one is one I saw online. There was one for sale in the Haynes catalog, number 54. The description said it was in the Bushu school style.

"Tsuba: The R. E. Haynes Study Collection" Auction
dimitri replied to Promo's topic in Auctions and Online Sales or Sellers
Regarding the shipping costs, I was worried, but I think they're reasonable. I sometimes pay more for shipping in France. €42 for the tsuba. Once with Drouot and their partner, it was €58, so it seems quite reasonable overall. @MauroP Indeed, there were some incredible sizes; I love large tsuba, and it was an amazing opportunity to get it at such a good price. Unfortunately, there were others; I don't regret it, but one of my katanas would have liked to have it in its assembly. -

Here's the one I got, quite happy with it. I would have loved number 27 or 58, but the bidding went up too quickly. Here's mine, from the Tenhô school. -
"Tsuba: The R. E. Haynes Study Collection" Auction

Same here. I'm now waiting for the shipping costs; being in France, fingers crossed. Quite happy with my purchase of the Tenhô signed tsuba. There were one or two others I liked, but their prices skyrocketed; this one was much more reasonable. -
I went through the Drouot platform; you already have the total result. I only have the hammer price. I think early next week; I sent an email to the international department.

Hello, did you receive an email to finalize the payment? I sent an email to receive the final invoice; I'm still in the pre-auction stage. They seem to work with MBE. In France, I've gotten into the habit of working with them and I've never had any problems so far.

Thank you @CSM101 for the link to the book (in German, which I don't speak at all) and @myochin for the photo of the page, thank you very much for your kindness.

Good evening. I am looking for either a copy of the book Gai Sô Chi by Robert E. Haynes, or at least a copy of the page containing tsuba #114, to find its description in relation to the auction. Thank you in advance. Dimitri

Thank you.

Hello everyone. I found this katana, and I'd like to have more details, please. Attributed to Koyama Munetoshi, I've tried several translators but given up; each time I get a different name or phrase. Thank you very much, Dimitri

I had a long discussion with him about a Kanabo katana. In the end, I passed on it; the blade was too damaged, and I preferred to buy a nihonto on the forum. Thanks to some forum members for making me aware of my future mistake. In quotes, more security on the listing, there's transparency with the seller, and you pay for a better blade at the same price.

The blade is magnificent. Beautiful koshirae too. You forgot to include the price, though. Good luck with the sale. -

Personally, next to my room, the two suits of armor and a mannequin don't bother me, nor do the lady, even my big demon sculpture. On the other hand, a theater mask, No, that's creepy for me, especially this style.😱😱

Japan art fair, the Netherlands
dimitri replied to Leen's topic in Sword Shows, Events, Community News and Legislation Issues
I'm disgusted, I can't go, I would have had 2 blades to have pre-evaluated. For once there is this chance. 😭😭 -
It's very clean, beautiful work, congratulations. As for the shape, I was told that I needed to use a pendulum balance wheel; it's the same shape and most of them are made of brass.
