    Black lines top of the hamon and lower down in the hamon, its a feature of kiyomaro school. Maybe the smith liked kiyomaros work?

    Where did he get the idea from any sources? If I didnt belive it was clock related I could claim its the crown of thornes. I also read the tokei is only an edo attribution so it cant be earlier.
