  1. No worries, additional examples below. https://www.google.com/search?client=ms-android-google&sca_esv=d181c16464dde945&sxsrf=AE3TifPraQHQurvj_6hW1F5EI9ThqK51kg:1755448366157&q="Maegawa"+Sukefusa+site:www.militaria.co.za&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwiOgKXiopKPAxU8SDABHU0vOWQQ5t4CegQINxAB&biw=411&bih=865&dpr=2.63
  2. Noshu Seki Maegawa Sukefusa saku
  3. Unfortunately I do not know Emilio. Chris (the Minneapolis show runner connected with Motoshige) runs the discussion group below on Facebook. You may want to ask him directly there. https://www.facebook.com/groups/1728933930663768/?ref=share&mibextid=NSMWBT
  4. Oguri Motoshige attended a show here in the US. I remember studying and enjoying examples of his work at the event.
  5. They're very common to encounter. You can see a few examples of legitimate osuriage yari remounted as tanto here within the discussion group. https://www.google.com/search?client=ms-android-google&sca_esv=2bfcaaea2384c7b9&sxsrf=AE3TifPoslwv4YhitHhPuLVPMb1LgJ_g7g:1754992778757&q=tanto+yari+site:www.militaria.co.za&source=lnms&fbs=AIIjpHz2LkAPJDdeiKYzFgacvjxVmKaDDQLwycTxV2L0apBPyNTRLJN5Yi1fzSp12MAsxdeaIXGtpn83-U0_rPXqfbBYHI_6MRGAM5GT-Jk44eqm_NLeFGIQvAMLCAnX0EpIKaWXEXUWNi2G3LshYKQdwC_13f6w5JLvLuMwC4uT8VJ9c_M2S-7C4tDKTvnbMJSq5mbDzXZ6tCNI8KS0vJFyWM7cKn9p1FnUxd_EBtJJmfnTcY8MLr4&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwjp66TJgYWPAxWISTABHRn9ObUQ0pQJegQIHxAB&biw=411&bih=785&dpr=2.63

  7. Please be aware that there are many gimei (fake inscriptions) purporting to be by the shodai Tadayoshi. Best regards, Ray
  8. Per Markus Sesko "HIDEMITSU (秀光), Shōwa (昭和, 1926-1989), Gifu – “Hidemitsu” (秀光), real name Hirata Hideo (平田秀夫),born August 1st 1903, he worked as a guntō smith * https://www.nipponto.co.jp/swords3/KY327965.htm
  9. I do not see an issue here. The blade appears to be Showa era.
  10. I believe it is Hirada Hidemitsu.
  11. Hi Bruce, I actually answered this one earlier for the owner on Reddit. Yoshida-ke (Yoshida family)
  12. The sword below was made the same year. The description seems to indicate this was made by Ogawa Kunihiko. https://ginza.choshuya.co.jp/sale/gj/r2/01/19_kanekuni.php
  13. David, I replied to you previously on Reddit. It is likely that the Nobuie has an atobori horimono (a recent/modern carving that is not original to the blade). It would not be a huge surprise to me if the horimono was done by a gendai smith associated with the Gassan school.

  15. For the stamp on the shingunto tsuba, please see below for Suya Shoten. The tsuka seems to read Hayashi in hiragana. https://www.google.com/search?q=suya+shoten+site%3Awww.militaria.co.za&client=ms-android-google&sca_esv=222871bd45365459&sxsrf=AE3TifMiJeYb1k-5UqaiFE7lny_S50Oacw%3A1754252573974&ei=HcWPaMSVO5GUwbkPi4jD8AY&oq=suya+shoten+site%3Awww.militaria.co.za&gs_lp=EhNtb2JpbGUtZ3dzLXdpei1zZXJwIiRzdXlhIHNob3RlbiBzaXRlOnd3dy5taWxpdGFyaWEuY28uemFIwUhQ9w5YokZwBHgAkAEAmAFuoAG3CKoBBDEwLjK4AQPIAQD4AQGYAgCgAgCYAwCIBgGSBwCgB5wEsgcAuAcAwgcAyAcA&sclient=mobile-gws-wiz-serp
  16. This is unfortunately not a Japanese sword. It is a Chinese fake. Please see below. https://www.jssus.org/nkp/fake_japanese_swords.html
  17. Bizen (no) kami Sukekuni
  18. The sword appears to read 'Echizen ju Shimosaka'. Likely shinto (early Edo period). Unfortunately the nakago (tang) has been cleaned and the rust has been removed. It is important to preserve the patina in this area. The tsuba is signed Kunihiro.
  19. The date is September 1944
  20. This does not really provide all the specs. I would suggest posting a photo of the kanteisho, information about the attribution and perhaps a link to the listing. Photos here are greatly compressed and very little detail of the blade can actually be seen in this post.
  21. Sukemitsu The mei we typically see for Sukesada use a different kanji for Suke.
  22. On one side, perhaps: 表西光人 刻 (?) 一琴 On the other side, the mei might be: 績成之 + 花押.
  23. Here is some additional information on Ikkin. https://web.archive.org/web/20211025161530/https://yuhindo.com/funada-ikkin-tsuba/
  24. This appears to be the WWII Seki smith Sukenobu. https://www.google.com/search?q=noshu+sukenobu+site%3Amilitaria.co.za%2Fnmb%2F&sca_esv=194710e0d45d0c4a&rlz=1C1YTUH_enUS1164US1164&sxsrf=AE3TifPk3NRnBzfzrSNwmZLPJUZpzuX_uA%3A1753766123529&ei=61iIaJGIIMTBvr0PmILt8Ao&ved=0ahUKEwjRqb_2p-GOAxXEoK8BHRhBG64Q4dUDCBA&uact=5&oq=noshu+sukenobu+site%3Amilitaria.co.za%2Fnmb%2F&gs_lp=Egxnd3Mtd2l6LXNlcnAiKG5vc2h1IHN1a2Vub2J1IHNpdGU6bWlsaXRhcmlhLmNvLnphL25tYi9IgBhQ8wlY2hVwAXgAkAEBmAH4AaAB4wmqAQUwLjMuM7gBA8gBAPgBAZgCAKACAJgDAIgGAZIHAKAHjgKyBwC4BwDCBwDIBwA&sclient=gws-wiz-serp
  25. Stephen, I have a Torio Hiromasa coming from this collection as well. I will update with dimensions when I return from overseas in a few days.
