  1. Nakago seems like it was shaved down at some point?
  2. Great examples, thanks for posting all.
  3. Agree. I often do posts like this on this forum. Well worth a look this one.
  4. My study of nihonto has made me come to appreciate fine swords done in masame hada. Old school Yamato Hosho, Shinshinto Norikatsu, love looking at them. If anyone would like to share some pictures of swords they have, I would love to see them. Darcy had a great study on one a while ago: https://www.nihonto.ca/hosho-sadakiyo/
  5. Need more of these discussions. Prices as listed or estimated (by seller/holder) often are not reality in my limited time. Plus, horimono is a hard pass
  6. 24% commission ????? Not sure how auctions work for a collector.
  7. Anyone going? Hoping to see some pictures!
  8. Thanks! Less listings than I thought there would be.
  9. I cannot add to what Michael S has posted and I thank him and Ray for some great insights on doing your homework. Thank you very much, it is appreciated. I will now do the photoshop close check of blades. Maybe the only thing I can add is to always ask for a "real light" picture of any sword that only has scans for the pictures. I find it very hard to evaluate a blades polish state from a scan. Maybe I am just dumb or missing something (very possible!) but a real light picture is something I always ask for after a bad purchase decision I made that would have been avoided had I done so. To the original question a bit down in thread, no way did I see the crack from the Aoi picture. But I also did not guess the end of "The Usual Suspects" like everyone I have ever met have stated they knew 10 minutes into the film

  12. This is a wonderful blade, thanks for posting!
  13. Sorry this is such a mess Hamfish, but fishing makes everything better!
  14. Looking over last years listing, amazing to see that many great swords all in one place.
  15. I do really like it Erick!!! Classic what I call "Bleeding Rain" choji work of the school. Plus it came with that great shirasaya.
  16. Thanks for posting. I have read that thread over a few times before tonight. It's very interesting and I think Darcy summed it up well towards the end. Your swords is spectacular, it's really wonderful. I love it. Have you submitted to a shinsa? Would love to know the result. I am total novice, but I do love Ishido school very much. I would lean towards Naotane on yours, just gut feeling.
  17. Thanks Tom!!! Made my Monday thats for sure. Wonderful works, thanks for posting.
  18. Any flash at an angle will work, black light works well too:
  19. LOVE IT!!!! Much more active than other Yasuhiro blades I have seen, stunning example. Thank you!
  20. During my learning and study I have come to love a few different schools and styles of swords. I used to be hell bent on buying an Ishido sword, and maybe I still am. That said, they don't come up much, hard to find. I thought why not dip into the collectors here and see some Ishido works! If anyone has a Tameyasu (1st or 2nd gen), Yasutsuna, Korekazu (1st or 2nd gen), Koretsugu, Ippo, finally Tsunemitsu I would LOVE to see it. Thanks for any visual fun.
  21. It's becoming a recurring theme!!!!!
  22. Now this is pleasing to look at, and would love to see a real light picture of it: http://www.sword-auction.jp/en/content/as17470-%E5%88%80%EF%BC%9A%E6%B0%B4%E5%BA%9C%E4%BD%8F%E5%8B%9D%E6%9D%91%E5%BE%B3%E5%8B%9D%E4%BD%9C%E4%B9%8B%E5%88%9D%E4%BB%A3-katana-suifu-ju-katsumura-norikatsu-first-generatin
