  1. Thank you very much Moriyama san and Christian! Kunihiro is what I was looking for.
  2. A vague mei but I think it says kuniyoshi saki. Can one of you confirm or point me in the right direction. Thanks.
  3. It's from the Nagoya Army Arsenal. You can find more information about stamps in the download section. A great article by Bruce.
  4. Colin, Axel was asking about the tsuba of the wakizashi I was showing.
  5. The only kozuka that I found so far is at the Met Museum. Not in the exact style but close. https://www.metmuseum.org/art/collection/search/29708
  6. Axel, Don't think tsuba is made turtle shell, maybe some kind of horn. mokune-gane is definitely something you don't see frequently. I'm still searching for a matching kozuka.

  9. Thank you Mauro for your opinion. Interesting, I shall do some further research.
  10. Hi all, I really like the design of the tsuba but I have trouble to identify a school. For me there are no recognizable typical features to determine a school. Diameter 70mm, thickness 3mm. Don't know if it is possible to determine. Hope you guys can help me. regards, Ed
  11. Hi David, thanks for your opinion. Highly appreciated. I totally agree with you that the tsuba is showing signs of forging. Regards, Ed
  12. @FlorianB thanks for your help. The dimensions are: Width 67 mm height 70 mm en thickness 4-5 mm.
  13. I have tried to take some better pictures of the tsuba. I don't believe it is cast, no worries from my side. @Okan, thanks for showing a similar design. I also thought it could be Shoami.
  14. Hi Dan, Thanks for your post. I have compared the tsuba with your pictures but the texture is definitely not the same. I shall try to take better pictures tomorrow. Hard to take pictures without proper daylight. No crack in the seppa-dai. Regards, Ed
  15. Unfortunately, no provenance at all. Not sure about painted but it is not easily removed by rubbing. You guys are probably right. Leave it, part of the tsuba history. Thanks to all!
  16. Hello all, Picked up this tsuba. There is a small number painted on it. Maybe an inventory number. Would you remove it or leave it? If removing, how to approach without damaging the tsuba. Thanks for your help. Regards, Ed
  17. I was reading some old books and noticed a nice tsuba with a VOC- ship. It has also a square hole in the middle of the nakago hitsu ana. Not much information about the tsuba and the book is printed in Japanese with only a few English sentences.
  18. Hi John, thank you very much for help. I was thinking tomokata but tomotaka or tomoyohi can also be possible. Hard to read. Thanks again for your help. It's highly appreciated. Regards, Ed
  19. I'm trying to read the signature and struggling with the last part of it. Choshu Ju Tomo ? Thanks in advance, Ed
  20. Just finished watching this nice lecture by Markus Sesko. If you haven't seen it before, don't wait and watch it now :-)
  21. Thank you very much Steve. That's really impressive. Personally, I thought it would be impossible to read. Regards, Ed
  22. The signature on the Tsuba is hard to read. Hope one of you can help me. Thanks in advance.
