Surprisingly there is a journal published in english. http://www.jjarchaeology.jp/(follow link to archives for more) Other archaeological resources are also published in english. I wonder if they need some help over there with some sites Matt

  12. Thank-you for the answer. I assume the railway swords I've read about is for the army protecting the raiway opposed to the actual operators who have dirks. Matt
  13. Are the train conductor full swords, or just dirks? Matt
  14. Hello Everyone! I have been lurking around for about a year now and I figured it is about time I introduced myself a little more. I am 25 years old and as the username implies, I am an archaeologist in Ontario. My imagination isn't that great. My interest is mostly in Gunto, however, I find myself more and more attracted to ancestral blades in gunto mounts. I have always found myself attracted to Imperial Japan and I have started my collection of gunto this year. I find the history of the smiths and even sometimes the previous owners of the swords a lot more accessible and interesting than the artifacts and lands that I am used to working with. Over the past year or so I have received the advice and help from many members here and would like to thank everyone for the warm welcome. it makes what I think of as the "learning curve" a lot less daunting and more enjoyable. Thanks! Matt
  15. What I have learned over the past year or so is that there is always another sword, you just have to wait for it. Matt
  16. No idea, i regret not buying the one you put up a few months ago every week! Matt
  17. Unfortunately, my pockets were not deep enough Thank- you everyone for your help! it was fun. Matt

  22. Will post shortly! Good Suggestion! Thanks, Matt
  23. I couldn't find him either, it's curious. What does it mean? A fake signature? Something added later to make the sword worth more? Maybe some sort of fake name by another smith? Matt
