  1. Hi, Light never plays with lines it always follows them.
  2. Hi, Just to say that shinogi-zukuri tanto are scarce but exist. Sample on this page: http://www.satcho.com/Nihonto/Nihonto.htm
  3. Hi, Shan Why did i say that's not a great job? Just looking at the shinogi which is "sinusoidal" . There is also some thing odd around the yokote, the hamon seems discontinuous. A little ask, what are the dark lines running across the yakiba and which are improperly called inazuma?
  4. Hi, The Kanesaki quoted by Reinhard is the same than this quoted in the Shinto taikan, the oshigata on the left shows the same blade which is shown in TK. Shinto taikan oshigata:
  5. Hi, Not a great job :|
  6. Hi, my apologies, it seems to be a misunderstanding by my fault here :? Franck, your blade was not made by the smith who is quoted in the Shinto taikan. it is 2 possibilities, first your blade is made by an unknown smith, second it is a gimei. Sorry for my poor english.
  7. Hi, I speak about the blade discussed here, not the same which is quoted in shinto taikan. the blades quoted in shinto taikan volume 1 and 2 are not only by the same smith but also the same blade as well quoted in the Toko Taikan (page 81/82). I don't find any reference about the following mei "Mimasaka no Kuni Tsuyama Fujiwara Kanesaki" even if this Kanesaki moved from Mino to Tsuyama.
  8. Hi, I have checked these books, it's not the same smith.

Hi, In others words, does a katana kill better than another sword?
  10. Hi, Looks like Masakatsu 正勝, but i am not confident about the blade genuineness.
  11. Hi, Munesuke died in 1725 (Kyôhô ju nen sichi gatsu) at the age of 84 years. there is a tsuba signed Ki Munesuke Gyônen nanajû kyûnen in the Nihonto Koza (kodogu part 1 page 116
  12. HI, Edit I first considered Sadatsugu but Moriyama san is right for the second: Ietsugu 家次 Don't know the last of the first mei.
  13. Hi, Munesuke, Munehira, Muneharu etc...
  14. Hi, I think when Yamada Asaemon Yoshitoshi did cutting tests on these blades and wrote his book in 1815, he didn't have a blade signed Terukane at his disposal, so he could not rank him. When the book was written Terukane/kanesada was pushing up the daisies since some decades
  15. Hi, Quote Fujishiro Shinto Jiten
  16. Hi, It is signed Masahiro.
  17. Hi, CJ, Sakakura Gennoshin Terukane and Echigo no kami Kanesada (O-wazamono) are the same person, so you may consider Terukane as O-wazamono even it is not listed under this name. :D
  18. Hi, this is the best way to avoid a disillusion :D
  19. Hi, I'm wondering Tomo 友 or Yoshi 女 ? Looks more Tomo
  20. Hi, Nobuie was a very important craftsman tsubako. Nobuie is also a katchushi belonging to Myochin family. He lived during the end of the Momoyama era and the begining of Edo era.
  21. Hi, Milt is right. Nobuie 信家
  22. Hi, May i suggest Kanechika 兼近?
  23. Hi, IMHO, because it is the kanji yo 與, and not the kanji oki 興
  24. Hi, Speculation, nothing else. Untill it will be proved that this blade is not a Sadamune, it remains a Sadamune.
  25. Hi, Effectively, the Kotetsu or The Shinkai are not "suspect" for everyone who has the smallest knowledge possible.
