  4. Thank you so much Arnaud! King of East ! If someone has some information on a tale related to this King, please tell me who he is! Anyway, might be : Jikokuten (持國天), or Dhṛtarāṣṭra in Sanskrit, is a guardian deity with fierce expression that protects the east of Buddha's realm. He is associated with the color white. In China, he is regarded as being harmonious and compassionate, using his pipa to play music in order to convert others to Buddhism. In Japan, his statues mostly carry a sword. He is also the leader of the Gandharvas, the celestial musicians and messengers. His name means "he who upholds the realm/nation."

  15. Hi NMB friends, I made some research on this tsuba I baught some months ago but didn't find any similar one to attach it at a school. Due to the tsuba shape, metal and the topic "Ume" I would consider this tsuba having some Umetada school influence . Can you please give me your views ? Thank you in advance
  16. One abalone shell tsuba of mine signed Akao Yoshitsugu . Kinai and Aka o schools where using almost the same designs...
  17. Thank you Curran for this extremely interesting information. I read in the Wikipedia description: The name refers to the fact that the tip of the chili pepper (唐辛子, tōgarashi) looks like the lion (獅子, shishi) head; in Japanese, it is often abbreviated as shishitō.[2] As a consequence would it be a way to show a ShiShi dog on this kozuka in the way of a rebus? Japanese culture brings so many topics of interests!
  18. I probably had to put this thread in the Tosogu section. Please Brian, can you move it ?
  19. I have purchased this kozuka recently at an auction in Austria due to the rare topic of a chili pepper (I did not know that Japanese where using chili peper in their cooking) This kozuka is mumei and I have really no information on a specific school. Should you have some clues, they are much more than welcome.
