Would someone be kind enough to identify these two tsuba
Kurikata replied to roger dundas's topic in Tosogu
Hi Roger, Some similarities can be found with your second tsuba is Varshavsky collection: https://varshavskycollection.com/collection/tsu-0410-2021/ It is described as signed by Nidai Nobuie with a lotus shape. I hope it helps -
Hi I just wanted to share with the community my new acquisition: a Ko kinko yamagane tsuba with waves motif from Muromachi area. Color is deep brown. Similar one is described in Varshavsky collection (https://varshavskycollection.com/collection/tsu-0331/) Cheers

Several of you where kind enough to comment my tsuba in the thread in copy. Quite by chance, I discovered in its box, hidden under the tsuba support plate this specific text. I assume it is describing the tsuba topic. Can someone translate it for me ? It would be of great help. Thank you !

Dale, even if it is a little bit erased, the nanako is present on all the rim of the tsuba. Some clouds are even engaved on the perimeter continuously on both sides.

Thank you Steve - Do you mean SOYO ? Could it be the 3rd generation Yokoya (H 08953) -(1700-1779) ? or simply the 5th generation Soyo (H 08954) who took the Yokoya name without the family permission.? Anyway thank you so much for this translation .

Another certificate for a mumei tsuba. I consider the attribution made by NBTHK as So Otsu but.... Any confirmation or new attribution would be of great help. Thank you

Former picture has been taken with a scan and probably some distorsion. No damage from my perspective.

Please find herewith for your interest a tsuba with unusual topic :Saikoro (サイコロ/骰子) game. I do not know the rules but found on the web a description: Goko no Saikoro (五個の骰子) is a dice game that was designed with the goal to give players more strategic options and control of the game than is usually the case in dice games. A secondary goal was to make a dice game that is not completely multiple solitaire. The resulting game is played with 5 dice, hence the name, which is Japanese for '5 dice'. Every turn a player decides what 'development' he or she wants to roll for. These 'developments' change the nature of the game. Some allow re-rolling a die, others change how the dice-roll result is converted into a score or points. To achieve a certain development, at least a certain score has to be rolled. This required score increases with each development achieved. If a player rolls particularly high he/she can choose to take points rather than achieve the development he/she was rolling for. If there are no more developments available, the player must roll for points. The game ends when one player chooses to take points for the tenth time. The game takes about 10 minutes per player.

I have this mumei unpapered goto tsuba for a while. Comparing with other ones I see some similarities with other signed tsuba by Goto Senjo . What is your opinion ?

Pictures have been changed . Thank you

Thank you Steve for your input. It is a nice added value to have this precise information on the Goto generation as the tsuba is mumei.

Hi gentlemen, I need some help in translation for that NBTHK green paper. Tsuba is Goto school, but does this certificate brings more information ? Thank you

There is one Harunori with these kanji in Haynes under reference H00854.0 (Nagai family) being a student of Yanagawa Naoharu but no Yasunori with these kanji.
