I need some help, tosogu experts:
I have this large tsuba (8,5 cm) for a while and if we can detect some soten influence (faces of the two wise men) , as it is unsigned, I have my doubts.
What are you views, please ?
thank you
Another "strange / hybrid" shape tsuba on Ebay at an indécent price: https://www.ebay.fr/itm/325158263488?_trkparms=amclksrc%3DITM%26aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20160908105057%26meid%3Ddb113309c7664491afab65b3bf511cb0%26pid%3D100675%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D15%26sd%3D325158263488%26itm%3D325158263488%26pmt%3D0%26noa%3D1%26pg%3D2380057&_trksid=p2380057.c100675.m4236&_trkparms=pageci%3A41c08e72-c2da-11ec-ab41-aa0a8766fdf8|parentrq%3A5567fdde1800aaecb52bbf30ffff9e1c|iid%3A1
Hi,
In my french trend to be provocative , why someone would be keen to pay Y 1 500 000 ( $12 000 / € 11 000) for an ugly piece of iron somehow rusty with no charm.
Can a signature be the sole motivation ?

Houa Steve and Jean! What a surprise to have you precising the exact meaning of this Hakogaki so many years after the very beginning of this thread. You are so persistant on this forum!
Piers, once again you open new doors to me. Indeed this kanji 風 ( Kaze) either means "wind" or " in the style of" ://nihongoichiban.com/2011/05/25/jlpt-kanji-風/
Therefore it could mean "in the style of iwamoto Kanri/Hirotoshi". A copy of the Master style from one of his student for instance....
Thank you Piers. I have discovered thanks to you that hirotoshi and Kanri were 2 ways to pronounce the same kanji. I have also discovered the same signature on the aoi art Web site: https://www.aoijapan.net/kozuka-kogatana-iwamoto-hirotoshi/
But no informations
on this very last kanji. I hope someone might help
Hi,
I succeeded in the first 4 kanji : 岩本寛利 IWAMOTO KANRI, but what about the last one ? I don't think it's a kao , therefore what is it ?
Thank you
