    Bad rust

Buying a rusty blade is a crap shoot, see link for what turned up after foundation polish. This was bought on ebay for five hundred, add in shipping shirasaya and habaki its not fun when it goes bad. http://www.ksky.ne.jp/~sumie99/SC.html
  12. machine made as in power hammer.
  13. shinto shinshinto still wont hurt, with all the chips in the ha a little elbow grease not going to hurt a thing. If it was in above avg polish, then you can yell and scream all ya want about cleaning abrasions. Grandma huh...looking for words???
  14. you have a war relic, not a national treasure, if you want to clean the blade it wont hurt this gunto to uchiko it, don't worry you not going to ruin it.
  15. "Out of interest would using metal glo on this blade be a stupid thing to do?" Not a good idea, In its state, Uchikoing it would be the best to bring out the hada and hamon, water quenched is not for sure, if it was it could be both hand or machine.

  22. Grey check Hawley Kan 2547...also the four stroke count for tomo mid right column, ? stroke to the right insted of the left on the top of inter top stroke to the left...if that makes a diff.
  23. looks good so far, one more please of the full blade sans handle and habaki, one note, looks like someone used metal polish to shine the blade...may be the light on the photo....if that the case be sure to just use a light oil, not to heavy of a coat.
