    Moriyama san, Keichu's complete works(only #7 vol) arrived just now. According to this book, my decipherment is right about "TAKARA".

    mr botanical, Hard to read upper kanji of the mei of Fuchi. Because, it is too artistic and artful . Lower kanji is "Shin"　真　. KM, It is beautiful your translation. But, translation of poem is not creation of poem. Moriyama san, Only a #7 volume of Keichu's complete works(books) will arrive to my house today.(活字版の古本です) Keichu's 100 poem of Mt.Fuji appears in this book. I'll up-load a page later.

    Moriyama san, I searched the book of the Edo period in the library of Waseda University. This book is the 100 poetical works in which Keichu composed Mt. Fuji. It says TAKARA (宝/treasure), not TAYORI. You don't believe wrong web-site! Attached pic is a avidence. This book says TAKARA 宝 .

    Mei says "Kuniaki,living in Shimousa province". Shimousa province is present-day Chiba prefecture.

    Hi, "Hozumi(family name) Kunuaki(保泉 圀明) in Chiba" appears in the name list of the 1st gunto exhibition in 1943. However, he is using not Kuni 國 but another character　Kuni 圀.(meaning is same). Maybe same smith. ??????

    Robert, The study of the mei of The 3rd gen Teruhiro appears on [ Token-Bijutsu ] monthly journal,NBTHK, pub 2001, #529 and #530. There are 4 indisputable tang Oshigata of 3rd gen Teruhiro on this journal.

    Hi, Nice both side of Kozuka! Please wait for English translation of the haiku poem till tomorrow. :D I learned one by this poetry. Mantis's forelimb looks like a sickle, therefore, I thought that it was a " sickle." However, people of the old time had called it an ax. An ax and a mantis appears　also in this poetry.

    Thank you for the replies. Attached pic is an example of misreadings and a mistranslation at 119 page. The mistake was corrected in the red character. Such mistakes are to many pages of this book.

    Hi, Geraint is a correct answer. :D The theme of fuchi and kashira is the Kabuki plays,titled "Kanjincho"(勧進帳). The inlay on the fuchi is a wooden box carried on Yamabushi's back to store items for a pilgrimage,called "Oi/Hako-Oi" 笈. The name of the mountain priest(Yamabushi) on the kashira is "Benkei" 弁慶　.

    Hi, Try "special steel",at SEARCH on top of index page of this Forums. I surmise that "special steel" means near stainless steel or cold-resistant steel.
