  1. Dear Jason, Looks like an Suri-Age Osaka school blade here.(In fact could be if i could see some bit more of the structure-Kissaki and Boshi but do lead me to this) Hamon looks O.K. for an most probably converted to-Wak. The polish is but not very good here-Not? You did mention it was polished in Japan-i do hardly doubt that(but of course you should know better)-those polishers i do know would never give an blade in that status away to the proprietor. So here but-i do have to wonder.... Equally i do agree with Mariusz comment concerning the Tang here... Christian
  2. LOL! This little guy is so great Ford! :D Where did you digg it out? Excellent! (does remember me somehow on Lone wolf and Cub...LOL!) Christian
  3. Dear John, Sorry to say this, but this seems to be a typical modern acid/base treatment-applied on two steps/ first step-so to create an very fast growing crustation which shall look like naturally grown rust/second treatment with an other acid/maybe a base here(bluish coloration)-so to "decrust" weak, burnt spots in the surface crust resulted due the first application. Depending on ground material and chemical differences in those applied waxes, fluids and so on...-you do get those typical crustation seen on your´s object here. Have an look in metallurgical literature or online treats... This is obviously no antique Patination at all! Christian
  4. I never heard about this site or this seller-you mentioned EU-so European Union? What is this for a site? Do you have an web-adress? Christian
  5. Dear Mariusz, well,-i am sorry, but this one here does not look as an Ko in mine eyes-i can be wrong of course-you may know it better-but.... It´s you the soft-metal guy,not me-but mine feeling says two things here... 1. Not that Good 2. Not that Old (reminds me rather works i have seen;dating from late Edo) It´s a pitty that there´s no old patination left!(if there ever was!) Again an object, which lost all it´s charm due missunderstood overcleaning and "collectors enthousiast in preservation"(Sorry to say this!) Christian
  6. HeHeHe Mariusz, :D of course i know your´s preferences-LOL! Do not worry-just kidding Prost! Christian
  7. Dear Mariusz Sorry? But what else Do You see here? Christian
  8. Dear Hilik, i am sorry-but i do not have such Those i know, are depicted in BW. Perhaps somebody here in the forum does collect Ukiyo-e?-and so may have the very expensive literature you do need? There´s a book series from 1950 around by Yukio Yashiro where there are depicted (some?)(i just can remember two or three)in colour... But i don´t have this publication..... Christian
  9. Dear Hilik, yes of course-now i do see better, and must say you are for certain right-This is a very very bad contemporary Fake. You did good in not purchasing such rubbish! The sheet itself seems me good-it´s very decorative! Even here,too-under those points you did mention-this is an Reprint so. But this is not so much important as in early Meiji there were several excellent Reprints produced, which do have nearly equal value today as the original Prints... You do find such Tsuba-sheets depicted for example in old Tsuba books, but from time to time offered also by Ukio-e collectors.... Christian
  10. Dear Hilik, thank you for letting me know your´s name plus the providing of that sheet-sample. So may i asky you what exactly is the question you do have here? Do you focus on that sheet,or on the your´s posted Tsuba-so to get an eventual answer? Actually, despite the additional Kanji ciseled on that Tsuba you did provide,at least myself,i can not see an big difference in stylism What materials did the craftsmen mention, execution and theme-those characteristics normally should ben mentioned there, too (if that´s just the picturesque you do have on that sheet-you can be very certain-it´s not the original one-but an reprint of an working-sheet,just by the way-so any further and appropriate evaluation of the your´s posted Tsuba can just be speculative...) May it be possible for you-so to show some close ups from Omote and Ura of that piece? What does make you certain it is an Fake?(is there possibility it may be an Utsushi perhaps?) From which source does it come from? I am sorry-but actually i just can evaluate from that sheet-so close ups from that spoken in question object would faciliate an eventual answer on your´s former question here.... Just an idea so far.... Christian
  11. Dear "Kokyo Jin" may i ask so to add one picture of that spoken woodblock-print you mention? So far-there were(are) several Woodblock-prints depicting Tsuba-which one do you mean? Also this stylism is not uncommon-better resolution of the your´s mentioned Tsuba-also would faciliate a lot here.... Sorry-but here on your´s posted picture-one can just guess.... Possible? Christian
  12. Dear John, thank you for those insights-i think i have read this already -but to say it very honest-there´s something on it´s whole arrangement which does confuse me,sorrowly i actually can not say or tell exactly... I have seen this one and did play in an "intend-purchase"-but finally decided against-maybe cause of the Fukurin? Which date would you give it? Christian
  13. Dear Bob and David, thank you all for those comments-(:-)! Owari attribution due the fact that myself i do collect solely Owari or Tsubashi comming out/ben influenced from Owari-tradition. Owari attribution due the fact of knowing this stylism of Tsuba, collecting Owari, owning and later times parting Owari Tsuba(most of them papered by NBTHK) Owari attribution due the fact myself i did study several other Tsuba to be arranged in the typical Owari direction not only in mine but also in other old Owari Tsuba collections here in Europe and Japan.... David-this is not a critic here at all-the Tsuba you willingly do offer here for insight-is an very nice one! It´s just not Momoyama, but this will not change it´s quality for yourself´s collection and importance at all!(so i do hope at least?) So a bit of wind blewn out the sails here.?.-LOL! Christian
  14. Dear David, this Tsuba is not Myochin/also not Nobuie-and/or Momoyama at all. It is very far from Myochin Iron-not to mention any(slightest) Nobuie! The "Ko" is correct-what just simplifies the meaning it is an "reminescant" The formerly given translation from the Japanese character into english is not correct here-you can´t use the general translation taken out from translation-books here. Ko- in this consense here does mean "a copy of stylism and taste".... This Tsuba is an late Edo Owari-school Tsuba! (most probably to be arranged in the Futagoyama direction) Christian
  15. Haaaaaaaaaaaa :D :D :D :D :D :D Great! Congrats and goood old Scotch here Cheers! Christian
  16. Hello Henry, just saw the comment by Bob... So ? or still ? wish you the best ....hope you did arrange Cheers Christian
  17. Dear Mariusz, yes-indeed Akasaka-but here an late one-Tadatoki perhaps(but there were several ones which did copy stylism of Tadamasa Nidai, too). The Asymmetric arrangement is somehow typical expression to be found in otherwise rather stiff style and expression of Mid to Late Akasaka-school Tsuba. For comparence of this arrangement(including those both holes above the Hitsu)see again Tsuba made by the Nidai. Those holes are part of the composition-so no later "arranged" (no worry-i see you had thoughts relating...LOL!) So a typical late Aka with "Renaissance" of Tadamasa...(by the way-don´t you have the Sasano and Kremers?-Lol again!-Cheers! Nice Tsuba Mariusz! Christian
  18. Dear Jesper thank you very much for those additional pictures in fact. I think from point of view(which one-Lol!)this is quite an very interesting found! The Mei seems obviously "Ill"!(i fully do agree) Concerning the Koshirae,but-i am somehow fascinated-i think Thierry is not bad at all in his thought-also it could be an Koshirae somehow modulated so to suit bad weather circumstances(coastal environment/Sea).... Did you ask Bent already/He may eventually have an idea, too? Christian
  19. Uuups! This little massive Lady does really make me wonder! (Sorry-i definitely have no idea here actually about an school attribution) Christian
  20. Hello Lorenzo, thank you for those additional pictures of course! Ha-this is quite funny! To be very honest-i never saw such ever till yet-this is quite very interesting indeed! A pierced Mimi like this is very strange-(i would agree if that would be a Namban-Lol! )but here??? What is the exact measurement of that Tsuba? Christian
  21. Dear Jesper- this is definitely an strange thing here-LOL! Are you confident it is certainly from an Aikuchi and certainly Japanese? (I never saw such before-to be very honest) could you add some more pictures? Christian
  22. Dear Lorenzo, could you add some picture(s) of the Mimi?(side view) Seems pierced on the Wall?/or is this just shadow? Nice! Christian
  23. Dear Henry, just have an look to this one... interesting,too-even if not exceptional but however interesting....
  24. Not so... Martin; not so much... interesting indeed.... Christian
  25. I really can not tell you-but i would get very angry if you present me such an Tsuba as gift!-LOL! :? well,O.K.-so perhaps to resell it later when you left mine house.... :D Cheers Christian
