dear Luca, here´s a book which may be of interest into your´s query! you can buy it from Grey Doffin´s site! (very cheap-as i have seen it priced right higher elsewhere) Christian
-
i know Pete ! i know.... i just do ask me!.... (sorry if inconveniant- this Topic Tsuba is great indeed!...i just fell over these "attribution-stones") Christian
-
Admin - Referring to the following tsuba: this is a nice example indeed! (i just browsed a couple of days ago, and did see it listed at your´s) your´s asking price is low, and i do think, it will sell very soon- especially in considdering the rareness of such a excellent composition. for "political correctness" but! what please shall be Kyo- Shoami? i do well know that Mr. Haynes sometimes in past did amuse us with his ideas...many times i did agree, many times i but equally do disagree. i but really do not know what "Kyo Shoami" shall be??????????? 1.-either it is a Kyo 2.-or it is Shoami.... "Kyo-Shoami" is a nonsense giving wording- as there never was a "Kyo-Shoami" (school or group) if "political correctness"- then please correctness in the consense to a specific tradition! just to justify that this work could fitt to the Kyo- or maybe also to the Shoami, does certainly not signify a new "Religion" taking seed. small anectode by side here.... some days ago, a old friend in collecting did express a certain expression, which heads to the very nailhead... he did express a certain "Kaufwut" (this is a old German expression i sorrowly do not know how to best express its meaning into english wording) you guys here, speaking German- how would you say/translate "Kaufwut" ??????????? (herein, but, certainly is the answer!) (hopefully, least a minor part from it).... (i really do not understand why people obviously reading this board...do not reflect on what we did write about,-Question- didn´t this continuously happen since years ago already...?????????) Sorry! (i do not understand!) Christian
-
please do not "call" the Saotome-group that way Curran! (consense) "they" (even the (s)lightest candle of these...) did (least try to) do it much better! (least i do just positive do hope so ! Hmmmph,....) ! Sorry Mikolaj! but how ofthen(?!) shall we all repeat the same text again??????? Christian

Can Someone Help Explaining The Following Price/tsuba
christianmalterre replied to Fuuten's topic in Tosogu
well, 1. this Tsuba got attribution to Tokubetsu Hozon Owari obviously.... 2. it got attribution to the Owari 3. and here i do personally fully agree- this is an outstanding example left- to the Owari group of Sukashi Tsuba. i have seen it some time ago...and i do confirm,it is a good and representative object! no complaint from mine part at all! (why do not buy it if it does please you?) Christian -
@ klebics it will certainly... case here,.. it will but not! as it´s obviously. your´s question is NOT! "unnoticed, which though a good thing"..! in this "case" but, the point you shall head to, is: 1. Nakago(not possible!) 2. Boshi (Kissaki)(herein lack if authenticity!) 3. Hataraki (seemingly(???)-a very strong lack "off" equally!) Iai-To(!) of modern, maybe 50 years apart forge?... Shin-Shinto certainly not equally, just mine feeling)(they did copy much much better indeed) Christian
-
dear Paul, do have mine honest thanks for your´s "Gentlemen" statement! well, it´s just a humbling getting here -"serious" boarding....(for guys like us, altimes needing to repeat same by same here on this board) we did, i think, seriously improof (also thanks to Ford here!) into a more serious heading diriction to the field of Tosogu... if i but,(!!!) do read such comments,(citation to the posts above)... i do really start to ask me about the He(?) ! Did they read?....certainly not!....did they study?...i really do ask mineself now! (it is nice to have such persons like you here Paul!- otherwise i would since long days say "do let them play"...!) just hope, the few who left will take the cards.... Chris
-
this is a Iai-To! made (for Arnold!) not more, nor less Koto???????? :rotfl: :rotfl: ! (do keep up dreaming!) Paul? did you play notice on the Nakago? not to speak about "slightest" hataraki here ?....is there any? Christian
-
this is not important for you Luca. i definitely do NOT recomment, so to take these pages for grant! (i just did try to lead Antti into a specific direction- as here, in this one single point,-modern research does congrue to some old (certainly not bad/ but equally not that useful ideas) Christian
-
Nice Antti ! attached you´ll find some more hint in your´s quest.... do read carefully! do your´s homework and crossread with other info you can get... do compare the timeframe certain in question artists did work, do afterward compare their´s work with the your´s... you´ll find out a 70% correct attribution for yoursself. (just much better than a simple "Hozon call"...) up to work now for you.....
-
Pete, speaking but more seriously here.... This DTI Tsuba certainly is a nice, representative and good one- no question! i but equally do get extremely cautious each time,i do get to see or study an old iron Tsuba with fukurin... (you do not know how it looks under, and how good or bad is the preservence of the iron)(especially in the Mimi- which in mine personal eyes, especially in Kanayama Tsuba, is the most important thing) this is the reason i do me very hard to imagine me, finally purchasing one... least me- had not done either way...(studying yes!-purchasing no!) this, of course! is mine own, very personal view- and maybe enigma. Christian
-
indeed....its little sister looks not that happy.... but Pete, after mine beheading they found and kept a relic....
-
this is relative to two main factors. the original quality of the sword, and secondly, the age of the sword. the older the sword the better- and this is the consequence that sometimes a very early blade is "a little whooped". please do but note, that it is still a common misconception that all swords are made in the simple iron core construction called Kobuse in Japanese. Christian
-
certainly not! this is ruined to eternity! Christian
-
me not....
-
Hep and Yep(pp) always committing the same (old) fools... do hurry mine friend! me again
-
eclectic Pete sole running? i do hard doupt!-LOL! (do grip!-i actually will not do so) Me

The Problem Of Shipping Japanese Sword Out From Japan
christianmalterre replied to kunitaro's topic in Nihonto
depending on the declared value there can be quite some problems resulting in custom declaration. i did only use FedEx and equally would always recomment. if FedEx did meanwhile but change as you say above? i do not know Christian -
The Reason Why You Should Buy Old Books- Masamune Found!
christianmalterre posted a topic in Nihonto
Dear Gentlemen, here´s a reason why buying you old books, essayes and pamphlets on Nihonto and Tosogu is important! i just wonder what did happen afterwards? -
sorry gents, here but! i personally think you certainly!! (very certainly!) you do have a wet dream! the Mishima is : http://www.e-yakimono.net/html/mishima-pottery-jt.html the pot here in question is very certainly NOT this! (but again, just mine very personal- maybe(?) humble opinion, on maybe to ben called," well intended expertees opinions")- is but certainly a " LOL!" from mine side ) Christian
-
charming but modern in mine eyes i have never seen such kind of feet execution yet- least not on any antique one. the stylism fitts more to Korea (if Korea???) than to any Japanese pot i have seen, equally. i am not shure if this is not just a contemporary workshop piece, done "in taste and vogue" to Southeast-Asian" taste maybe.... can be wrong of course.... Christian
