Back of the calf, above the knee? The eye of Sauron?

Conway, This is the first example I've seen with both the shop logo and the small star on fittings. Paul's example in the OP doesn't have the star on the fittings and all the other examples I have of the star didn't show the koiguchi. It would fit since the logo has a small star in the center, but we'll have to find another example or 2 with them both. The example I have from Tony A of Wehrmacht-awards has the star between the 2 numbers, like Nicholas' seppa, but he didn't post the koiguchi in his thread from 2023. WW2 Shingunto For Sale - Tony A

I thought it was the inside of the forearm but after checking the listing seller says it was the calf. Who handles their blades in bed. Just asking for trouble. tbh he probably got away lightly. Could have got the Bobbit treatment. Not a Muramasa is it?

Below haikan aniki @Bruce Pennington and rubber was added on cut. I want to look closer on tsuba. Was its mimi grinded?

WOW I doubt they've even received the item yet, and it looks like they're even reusing the goodwill pictures ! Bummer, -Sam -
John, The leather seems to be custom fit for the saya. How would it have been cut down?

Thank you Mal! It is always cool to see these wartime smiths work and read their info. @Rawa A good question. My reason being it’s not a Nihonto, and it’s in REALLY bad condition + without visible hamon. I feel that between its non traditional nature, and its poor condition, that it’s below the standards of the NMB. Also, because it’s worth very little in its current condition, I think an eBay auction is my best bet for a fair deal; as I can accept whatever someone offers (I have no idea what to ask for a showato in “relic” shape ). I think it’s probably best to sell away, donate to the board, and keep whatever extra for whatever catches my eye next. As always, i'm open to hearing any counterarguments to my plan. -Sam

So I bought cheap parts will post here when it arrives. Tsuka is short. Maybe it have ishizuki.
-
Now why would you add that as an argument to buy it. How do you even accidentally cut your calf when unsheathing a blade?
-
Why not post in here?

Some more information about Yukikage: There were two smiths working under the same name in Bizen during first half of the 15th century. The mei on your blade fits only the one working in Osafune during Oei to Eikyo-years. He was the son of Inshu Yukikage and later associated with Yasumitsu in Osafune. His workmanship was similar to that of Omiya Morokage. reinhard -
Nice clean little koshirae. Love the falling gold flecks in the lacquer.

Good question. This is why we all collect reference books, etc. -
Dear Nobody, do you know his school and teacher? Thx.
-
The Koshirae on the aoi art listing used to belong to a Naoe Shizu and now to this sword.
-
Dear Hai. Looks like a nice aikuchi koshirae, can we see it all please? All the best.

Once something appears on the open market via the net it will get seen and it is the market that will decide what it’s worth. Very few pieces “fly under the radar”….instead it is a reflection of what is desirable in the prevailing market. For many many years fine quality kinko tsuba have been drastically underrated from a technical manufacturing (and sometimes artistic) perspective but now the “penny has dropped” and they are being seen as an investment opportunity. A good example of how the best of any commodity commands a premium. Add in the quirky and unusual subject matters and there seems to be no glass ceiling. Iron tsuba have a different market more influenced by papers maybe?? Not my subject so I don’t know. The buyers of fine mixed metal pieces don’t give a stuff about papers (rightly so imo)
