Dear all, 

 

a hozon papered tsuba. Looks like Tachibana Mado Ko Inaba. However maybe Kyososhi Inaba?

i am puzzled.

 

any help would be appreciated.

I am not sure about the correct reading for 橘窓子. However, I think that it might be possible to read Kissoshi (a euphonic change form Kitsusoshi).

There is a word 橘窓 (kisso), which means a window with a view of citrus trees.

Very nice tsuba indeed.  Now, I am puzzled by the feature in the photo below.  This has risen in discussion on rare occasions, however, I don't know the name of it or what its purpose is.  Anyone know??  I have a Muromachi tachikanagushi tsuba with an identical feature.
