Scogg Posted February 23, 2025 Report Posted February 23, 2025 A friend recently got this wakizashi in a bulk purchase, and I helped walk him through getting the tsuka off. He sent me these photos and would love to learn more about it. Cheers, -Sam Quote
Ray Singer Posted February 23, 2025 Report Posted February 23, 2025 The zokumei (personal name) is not totally clear, but this seems to refer to Yokoyama Kozuke Daijo Sukesada. 3 Quote

Ray Singer Posted February 24, 2025 Report Posted February 24, 2025 The zokumei appears to be 七兵衛 (Shichibeijo). 2 1 Quote

Scogg Posted February 24, 2025 Author Report Posted February 24, 2025 Thanks everyone! I really appreciate your help, and my friend who has this sword, is beyond excited to have found something 'so old'. ( he usually just collects militaria rifles ) Should I assume this piece to be gimei? Or is the rather specific mei, a good sign for zaimei? Cheers, -Sam Quote
