How to store nihonto without mountings until i make shirasaya

Hi! As the title says, what would be a good way to store nihonto without mountings until i can make fitting shirasaya?

Sten , i have used Paul's video and it works really well,  you will be surprised how good the paper saya works , good luck .

I got the advise from a Togi-shi to cover the blade first with an oiled cling film and than put it in a paper saya.

Here's a question. 

 

I've noticed some nanbokucho swords or later, which have Tokubetsu Hozon papers and sword polished, but without shirasaya ??? Instead their in koshiare. Why would a freshly polished sword not be given shirasaya?

Don't have an example to show. But new koshiare might be a good reason

Suspect there is a shirasaya, it's just not being shown/displayed.

I don't think that is the case, but I personally know a situation where Shirasaya (wood) was used to make Koshirae.
