Can anyone help with this mei?

Maybe something like 董重 Shige? 日

It may be Akasaka circa 1700
Yatsuhashi bridge and Iris although iris looks a bit dodgy

Maybe Shigeuji

H08534 - Choshu hagi, nagato

Family = Kanda

H08535

Takata in Echigo province

Shoami

So neither is Akasaka!

With the thicker rim I'm leaning towards Shoami but you may know better

Well, unless my late night blinkers are still on (hic!) this looks nice if a little rustique!  The small kogai hitsu suggests OLD to me???  I like the tsuba and perhaps the mei will always be 'intriguing'.

BaZZa.

As an alternative Bazza’s “rustic” suggestion might not be a bad one. Some likeness to mainline schools but not quite all there. One of the “country” workshops might also explain why the maker isn’t listed.

Anyhow, a good sturdy tsuba with great tekkotsu - plenty to like.
