Misconstrued Posted July 30, 2021 Report Posted July 30, 2021 Story: My great grandfather served in WW2 in Okinawa and took home this gunto, any help is appreciated! Thanks in advance! http://imgur.com/gallery/x64aWTW Quote
Stephen Posted July 30, 2021 Report Posted July 30, 2021 Better to try posting pix here. Last NCO from your other. I don't join other servers or whatever that thing is LOL Quote
Stegel Posted July 30, 2021 Report Posted July 30, 2021 It is a late war NCO sword, from what I can tell, Pattern 6 wooden handle with wooden scabbard. Serial numbers start at the 300k mark for these. They are not very common and desirable for collectors of Type 95 swords. Please post some clearer photos here, you will find more info in other threads on this forum and also over at the warrelics forum. Quote
Misconstrued Posted July 30, 2021 Author Report Posted July 30, 2021 My grandparents who are in possession of the sword currently are out of town and will be for a bit, so I sadly can't get more photos until then. Sorry for the bad quality also! Quote
Bruce Pennington Posted July 31, 2021 Report Posted July 31, 2021 I've cropped and enhanced your shots a little. Still would be great to see some clear photos when you get a chance, especially the serial number. You can read about these on the following sites: http://ohmura-study.net/957.html https://www.warrelics.eu/forum/Japanese-militaria/short-development-history-type-95-gunto-676112/ https://www.warrelics.eu/forum/Japanese-militaria/ija-type-95-nco-sword-info-228172/ 1 1 Quote
