PNSSHOGUN Posted March 12, 2021 Report Posted March 12, 2021 Kai Gunto with later war fittings. This looks to be Gendaito, or traditionally made sword from Tamahagane. Not sure what you paid but you got a great example of a genuine Gendaito in Naval Kai Gunto mounts. 1 Quote
TexasMatt Posted March 12, 2021 Author Report Posted March 12, 2021 Thank you very much for your help on this. Is it worth getting repolished? I found out what the translation was from translation forum. It was this. 1 Quote
vajo Posted March 12, 2021 Report Posted March 12, 2021 Its a nice sword. Matt please handle it with care. Don't lay it on hard stone or the ground. Took sword pillows. Clean your blade with uchiko or 99% isopropanol and oil it with choji or tsubaki oil. 1 Quote
PNSSHOGUN Posted March 12, 2021 Report Posted March 12, 2021 I would also say this does not need to be polished, it appears to be in good condition as is. Just follow the advice above and wipe it down with tissue paper and small amount of good quality mineral oil Quote
TexasMatt Posted March 17, 2021 Author Report Posted March 17, 2021 What would be a good asking price for this if i wanted to sell? Quote
