Tengu1957 Posted November 18, 2019 Report Posted November 18, 2019 I am away from home right now and can get an image of the sword when I go home at Thanks giving. Shinshinto Masamitsu from Hiroshima The sword was made for a Samurai Ogawa Tachibana MasaChika in Tempo 5 Mentions made with local steel In Tempo 6 it was taken to the Senju execution grounds and tested by the famous Tokugawa executioner Kubi Kiri Yamada Asaemon ( head cutter Asemon ). Cut through the hips into the dotan or mound. 68.1 cm looks like a Hizen blade in suguha.Tokubetsu Hozon paper This cutter was said to have decapitated more than 6000 people in his career. 1 Quote
Ken-Hawaii Posted November 19, 2019 Report Posted November 19, 2019 Yeah, he was one badass when it came to cutting. Markus has a whole book on execution styles. Quote
Greg F Posted November 19, 2019 Report Posted November 19, 2019 That sword has some cool history Gary. Ive read about Yamada the sword tester and it would be great owning a sword tested by him. Greg Quote
ROKUJURO Posted November 27, 2019 Report Posted November 27, 2019 Beautiful blade, but probably a bit too much oil 1 Quote
Ken-Hawaii Posted November 27, 2019 Report Posted November 27, 2019 Rather too much oil than too little! Nice sugata. Quote
Greg F Posted November 28, 2019 Report Posted November 28, 2019 Would be nice to see close ups with out oil to check out the details. Very nice sword. Greg Quote
Curran Posted November 28, 2019 Report Posted November 28, 2019 Too much oil on a nice looking blade. It isn't a sewing machine. The koshirae: Owari koshirae? Quote
