Came across several banners/flags recently. I'd like to see what this smaller banner might be representing. Has the army star but can not put the two kanji together to make sense. Could it be something like "brothers" (brothers in arms?), but that doesn't sound very Japanese to me. Any answers here? Thanks in advance. Ron STL

This looks like a section of one of the banners that were produced and used to dispatch boys to the military. This one looks trimmed since they often had both the soldier name and his home town. The character is "SHU" or congratulations . Notice the spread of fallen cherry blossom across the bottom.

Thanks Peter, I never heard of that type of thing. I thought this was two characters, not one, no wonder I was lost. Another interesting piece of WWII history. Ron STL

Not sure, but, could 管人 mean a musician of flute or fife or similar?

Thanks guys. Hope Master Isozaki Toshihide survived. Actually saddens you when you put a real persons name to it. It goes from just a war relic to some thing personal.
