I’ve been hunting info on this sword (I believe is a type 98) that my friend’s grandpa brought home from the Ryukyu Islands after WW2.

 

I’ve searched through the Mei link but it’s hard for me to figure it.

KANEMASA (兼政), Shōwa (昭和, 1926-1989), Gifu – “Kanemasa” (兼政), real name Ezaki Matsutarō (江崎松太郎), born March 5th 1882, he worked as a guntō smith and died May 17th 1961
