peter Posted March 24, 2018 Report Posted March 24, 2018 Hello Gents I wonder if anyone has seen one of these before it's an outer metal core with the wooden inner tsuka . It is katana size . Any information on what it is called or pics would be much appreciated, Markus has said he has seen a few and some even with into although I can not find any on the net. Regards Peter Quote
vajo Posted March 24, 2018 Report Posted March 24, 2018 Hello Peter, nice tsuka and very interesting. I have a Tsuba that looks some similar to the motif. 2 Quote

vajo Posted March 24, 2018 Report Posted March 24, 2018 Peter i wonder how does the kashira was fixed on the tsuka. Did you know it? Quote
TETSUGENDO Posted March 24, 2018 Report Posted March 24, 2018 Peter, I have seen quite a few of these, Iooks like Komai style work to me. 1 Quote
peter Posted March 24, 2018 Author Report Posted March 24, 2018 It looked like a tar or perhaps lacquer on the tsuka under the kashira but may have been pinned as you can see from the images Quote

TETSUGENDO Posted March 24, 2018 Report Posted March 24, 2018 Peter, Just Google it, you should find more images than you bargained for. Happy hunting, Quote
Bazza Posted March 24, 2018 Report Posted March 24, 2018 So, Peter, you were the lucky buyer on ebay. I was watching this but somehow missed the conclusion... I have a katana with a solid sheet of iron covering the tsuka with a full-length nunome zogan dragon. The tsuka and katana nakago have holes for two mekugi. The blade is in a very sombre handachi koshirae with silk cord on chain hangers. I'll endeavor to put up some photos... BaZZa. 2 Quote
peter Posted March 24, 2018 Author Report Posted March 24, 2018 I look forward to seeing them Bazza Quote
