Maybe a classical representation of myoga (ginger)? And is the sukashi on the second picture the same motif simplified? Any help is appreciated Thanks Quote
b.hennick Posted February 25, 2016 Report Posted February 25, 2016 The first has chidori and ginger, whereas the second may have tansu handles. Quote
kissakai Posted February 25, 2016 Report Posted February 25, 2016 Also for the second, signal boards (unban) Grev UK Quote
MauroP Posted February 26, 2016 Report Posted February 26, 2016 The birds usually associated with ginger sprouts are wild geese (karigane myōga zu - 雁金茗荷図). The sukashi in the second tsuba are called warabide - 蕨手 (the shape of unpan, a cloud-shaped gong, is a little different).. Bye, Mauro Quote
John A Stuart Posted February 26, 2016 Report Posted February 26, 2016 Mauro, the shape could be likened to bracken shaped. Like in Warabite in 蕨手刀 Warabite-to, the old sword type. John Quote
