hxv Posted January 17, 2016 Report Posted January 17, 2016 The buck is getting shorter.....again. Hoanh
Pika007 Posted January 17, 2016 Report Posted January 17, 2016 Wondering how int'l services will be affected. They add new senseless regulations every other tuesday either way, if the prices start peaking up as well..... eh, i'll have to swim to the U.S to get my stuff.
brannow Posted January 18, 2016 Report Posted January 18, 2016 Rate hicks are nothing new with the US postal service.
Stephen Posted January 18, 2016 Author Report Posted January 18, 2016 Right Bill,if we only could keep them hicks in the wood's. Nothing wrong with a heads up.
jason_mazzy Posted January 18, 2016 Report Posted January 18, 2016 odd, since dollar is stronger that prices are going up
Kronos Posted January 18, 2016 Report Posted January 18, 2016 And oil therefore transport costs well down.
Grey Doffin Posted January 18, 2016 Report Posted January 18, 2016 There is a back story to this. One of the political parties in our congress, and since we're not supposed to bring politics onto the board I won't mention names, would dearly love to see the USPS privatized (made into a totally independent business, not the independent business subject to government control that it currently is). Towards that end, they passed legislation that decreed that the Postal Service, unlike any other business in the country, has to prefund 100% of retiree health care costs 75 years in advance. This is a huge financial burden for the USPS and a significant contributor to the inflated cost of postage. Other countries, Japan for instance, must see affordable postage as a benefit for their citizens and especially for small business; my cost to ship books from Japan to me is much less than it costs me to ship books to Japan. Wish it were so here. Grey
Stephen Posted January 18, 2016 Author Report Posted January 18, 2016 Postal service from Japan IS fantastic! I can get a EMS from Japan faster than a two day priority from NY. As Grey said there cost is a fraction of ours here in USA. Only see it getting worse here.
Brian Posted January 18, 2016 Report Posted January 18, 2016 At least you have a postal service. Unless I use EMS....I am NEVER getting my parcels. PO is bankrupt, can't even pay for fuel for their vehicles.
