SwordGuyJoe Posted December 8, 2015 Report Posted December 8, 2015 Sorry but no help. Just wanted to say "Holy crap that thing is gorgeous!" But I'm sure you've already noticed. 1 Quote
(Kao) I'm not 100% sure of the kanji below 寒山. I would expect 誌, but the kanji on the box doesn't quite match my expectation. And I have no idea about that 4th line. Beautiful piece, though. 1 Quote
Kurikata Posted December 9, 2015 Author Report Posted December 9, 2015 Thank you Joe for the compliment and thank you again steve, very much, for your translation. Don't invest too much in this as the Hakogaki is just confirming what we see: An iron rounded corner shape Aizu Tsuba without signature and with gilted inclusions .... Thank you again for you strong support to this community. Cheers Quote
Nobody Posted December 9, 2015 Report Posted December 9, 2015 3. 無銘會津正光 - Mumei Aizu Masamitsu 4. 昭和壬子年仲秋 - Showa Mizunoe-Ne no toshi, Chushu (mid-autumn in 1972) However, I am not 100% sure. 1 Quote

Kurikata Posted December 11, 2015 Author Report Posted December 11, 2015 Dear Morita San, thank you... Does someone think this tsuba could be from the famous Hayashi Masamitsu who died in 1881? (Haynes H04186.0) thank you for your comments....... Quote
SteveM Posted December 11, 2015 Report Posted December 11, 2015 I would say yes, it could very well be. Of the many Masamitsus, Hayashi Masamitsu was from the Aizu area. He seems to be the most likely candidate for the artist of this piece in therms of location and subject matter. There are about twelve other Masamitsus. Four or five of them are from Tokyo, but only Hayashi is from the Aizu region specifically (Iwashiro), and he produced works of nature in high relief. So I'd say yes - but I'm just going from the reference book. I am not a tsuba expert. Quote
