dig1982 Posted June 30, 2015 Report Posted June 30, 2015 I'm searching for a small piece of real tamahagane with a small price. Quote
lonely panet Posted June 30, 2015 Report Posted June 30, 2015 if you know some one in Tokyo, ask them to pop into the NBTHK museum, they have small bits for around $25. all modern, and low quality but nice Quote
Johnny Barracuda Posted June 30, 2015 Report Posted June 30, 2015 Indeed. They have bits of various size. The most difficult task, when you go there for the first time, is to locate the Museum! Funny story: I wanted to pruchase sword bags at the Museum (they have nice and affordable ones), and the lady asked me for which kind of sword I required bags. When I replied that it was for gunto, she was positively horrified, and when I specified kyu gunto, she looked at me as if I was demented. She flatly refused to sell me any sword bag. Strangely, at the Yasukuni shrine, people were far more open-minded about gunto... I really do not know why Quote
dig1982 Posted June 30, 2015 Author Report Posted June 30, 2015 I don't know anyone in Tokyo ... Quote

SAS Posted July 1, 2015 Report Posted July 1, 2015 I've seen it on ebay as well, not sure how the prices compare. Quote
SwordGuyJoe Posted July 1, 2015 Report Posted July 1, 2015 You can always contact them to see if you can purchase in smaller quantities. Quote
Johnny Barracuda Posted July 1, 2015 Report Posted July 1, 2015 Anyhow, this is steel, therefore a 30 kg package should not be that big. Quote
ken kata Posted July 2, 2015 Report Posted July 2, 2015 Hello Forum, I bought this thru Paul. I, too, was looking for Tamahagane , just to have some to display and Admire Nice presentation Box makes a nice presentation. I contacted Paul via Facebook, I think.. Has another red Kanji Stamp on the side of the box too. It is the " Japan Swordsmiths Association - Kanto Region" Alton Takata Quote
