taboz Posted May 10, 2015 Report Posted May 10, 2015 Hi guys, i need your opinion to buy this sword. is real Sword signed FUJIWARA SADATSUGU dating from between 1661 and 1672? is original blade? thanks Quote
Gunome Posted May 10, 2015 Report Posted May 10, 2015 Hello, Look just above the mekugi ana, you will notice a stamp from Seki. That point to a WWII blade. Quote
Brian Posted May 10, 2015 Report Posted May 10, 2015 A real sword, but not a good one. Poor horimono and a WW2 arsenal blade. Brian Quote
Brian Posted May 10, 2015 Report Posted May 10, 2015 Still a real sword. Still a poorly done horimono. But now an old sword. It has some serious damage near the machi. Unless it is very cheap, I would avoid it. Under $1000...maybe. Brian Quote
taboz Posted May 10, 2015 Author Report Posted May 10, 2015 Thanks Brian Another question for this ww2 blade... Hand made or machine made? Age? Value? Quote
Brian Posted May 10, 2015 Report Posted May 10, 2015 Mass produced WW2 (I wouldn't call it machine made...but not traditionally made) Age... WW2 Value...about $900-1000 Brian Quote
ZZr1100 Posted May 11, 2015 Report Posted May 11, 2015 Out of needless curiosity, what would be the reason for the suriage(assuming it is. Kiri nakago-jiri and koshi(?)-hi running onto the nakago) on a modern mass produced blade? Personal preference? Cracked/chipped hamon near the habaki? Is this a common, or at least not rare thing? george trotter Posted May 11, 2015 Report Posted May 11, 2015 The signature of your first sword also has the following name... can't read the first few kanji, but it goes on to say TANGO No KAMI FUJIWARA SHIGETSUNE. Not sure if it is made by Shigetsune or Sadatsugu. Shigetsune is from the mid 1600s...there were several signing this way. Quote
