Robert Housley Posted September 15, 2014 Report Posted September 15, 2014 I purchased this from AOI Art. As always, they were courteous and helpful. I have always enjoyed the eggplant theme as far as fittings go and I went broke to have this one... I hope everyone enjoys. My picture is small, so I have included a link to the original sale page. http://www.aoijapan.com/tsuba-masatsunekyonen-80-sai Robert H. Quote

k morita Posted September 17, 2014 Report Posted September 17, 2014 Eggplants themed tsuba.Nice! Quote
laowho Posted September 21, 2014 Report Posted September 21, 2014 Beautiful. I don't remember seeing it a month ago, and it's a piece I would have remembered (read "lusted after"). Quote
Robert Housley Posted September 21, 2014 Author Report Posted September 21, 2014 Both the tsuba and menuki arrived yesterday. The pictures do not do the tsuba justice. It is much nicer in hand. I had hoped the menuki would match a bit better, but they are smallish... Maybe for a wakizashi? I will try to get a picture of them up later. Thanks for all of the comments. Robert H. Quote
laowho Posted September 21, 2014 Report Posted September 21, 2014 Putting together the furniture for my first build was incredibly tough, and I'm not sure it will ever be finished. The menuki that I found were a good execution of a common theme, but at only 2" seem a bit small for a katana, probably because of their lack of height. Everything was chosen first for its patina and color (after appropriate size of course). And of the pieces that I ordered, only the menuki threw me as being a surprise/as being different than expected. Just thought they'd be larger. Quote
